what's best most natural baby wash products?

Hi all!
I'm still preggers...due sometime in december, but i'm 'thinking/planning ahead' and possibly making a move to HI in a month or so (if i do i want to buy as many baby things here as they are much cheaper)
i wanted to ask your opinions about baby products, specifically baby wash/shampoo/lotion etc. i myself am a fan of california baby (use several products myself) dr. bronners, earth mama angel baby, motherlove, baby carrot. is there something natural, organic, free of 'icky ing' that you LOVE and would recommend?

Just plain old water! I think that Cecilia has been washed with baby wash-- Weleda calendula baby, free of ickies-- exactly once: when we were at the hospital. Otherwise, I wash her with just water. I don't really think babies need more than that. When she's mobile and getting into all sorts of stuff, I will probably use olive oil or the Japanese camellia oil I use in my hair to loosen gunk and then water from there.

we use "baby bee" by burt's bees to wash our baby's body and hair, from birth to now (he's 7 months). a little on a washcloth goes a long way, the smell is really mild and nice, and it's 96% natural. you can get it at natural foods places, and maybe mainstream stores too, where you are.

we don't use any lotion on him, it's really not necessary. that said, burt's bees does also have a great diaper cream that is cooling, herbal, and has no petroleum products.

California Baby Super Sensitive is my favorite. If you *really* want to stock up they sell it by the gallon on their website.

I mostly use water on my DD and a couple of times I have washed her bottom and once her hair with a sample size of weleda calendula baby wash and used the oil and diaper creme. She is 5 weeks 2 days and I have half of each sample left still. I have given her a massage with organic coconut and olive oils, but I think the olive oil is a bit too rich for her skin and the weleda calendula oil seems best so far but I haven't used it since her dry baby skin went away. I think when they are young there's no point in putting anything on them if they don't need it or you risk causing a problem. And babies don't stink or play in the mud
For a diaper rash she got I found blow drying her bottom worked wonders though I do occasionally use the weleda and did when it was worse and it may have helped.

I agree with cecilia's mom that water is really the best til they start getting truly dirty. We only used water for months with coconut oil as a moisturizer.
Now we use dr bronners when she gets all dirty because I can get some good smelling stuff and it is what I use on me. It is so easy just having one bottle for all our personal cleaning needs (I use it to brush teeth too)

My daughter has excema. Burt's Bees made her skin horrible (it smells so nice though) and Method products kept it from getting worse but didn't help. Then we tried California Baby, including their skin lotion, diaper rash cream, and non-talc powder. We LOVE them all (although if she gets bad diaper rash, like around teething, we do have to use Triple Paste to get it to clear up).

The body wash/shampoo and lotion, not only didn't make her excema worse, but it cleared it up really quickly, and her skin is so soft now.

For bigger kids (toddlers) who get dirty I love the California Baby products, but they are pricey.

A good, natural alternative is the Rainbow Research products:

We love California Baby, too! I've never been a fan of the burts bees products, they seem like they *hurt* my baby's skin.

Badger makes an excellent balm for diaper, and I love the mother love diaper balm, too (but it is so pricey).

I also use only California Baby products. My 3 year old has been washed occasionally with other crap while in the shower with DH and I can always tell a big difference in his hair and skin. My 10 month old DD has only ever been washed with California Baby and water, and her skin is so soft, i have never put lotion on her ever, she doesn't need it.

Re: just using water: It cracks me up, people constantly ask me what type of baby products I use because Cecilia smells so good. They are always amazed when I say I just use water and she smells that good naturally! I loooooooove baby smell!

If I use something it's a natural bar soap. I think we have oatmeal honey soap from Trader Joes currently. It's easier to hold onto when washing a baby. I use it for her entire body including her hair. I have dreads and find bar soap is easier to wash my hair with, as well. I like that I don't have another plastic bottle.

We use the California Baby wash and lotion that are fragrance-free (not sure if all their products are). DD usually doesn't need moisturizer though; now I'm using it on my face.

Honestly, my first it took me a year to get through her Earth Mama Angel Baby wash (highly recommend it) but the second one just had water for the first six months or so. Until solids. I use natural products on myself so then I just used my own olive-oil soap on her when necessary, if the grime didn't "soak off".

We use our own products for moisturizing and diaper care.

I love love love Terressentials. We have their tush treatment, body wash and baby massage oil. Just great-smelling and all natural, too. I believe they are only available on their website though.

DD is 9 months old, and we are only halfway through the body wash that we bought when she was born.

BTW, she has never had baby acne or eczema or any kind of skin issues. She may be just lucky, or maybe her products helped!

I'm also with Cecilia's Mama - Soap has touched my 5.5 month old DS's skin one time... It was Dr. Bronner's Baby. Most of the time, we just let him play in the water, and use a washcloth to wipe him down. After a bath, I coat him in either olive oil or jojoba oil.

I am intrigued by the Terressentials stuff though - It sounds nice.

I didn't use anything but water and some olive oil for moisture until she was 6ish months old. Then, because she started crawling all over the floor and touching everything, I started to wash her with Peter Rabbit organics.

that's us, too. the baby dr. bronner's has the fewest ingredients. i like BB's but it's now owned by clorox and it does have fragrance, etc. the dr. bronner's is super mild with no scent or anything unnecessary. plus so many uses for it!

Water. Nothing else is needed, even if they are toddlers, teenagers and adults.

I use soap, after handling greasy bike chains, but soap is really overrated.
