Quilt questions

Thread Starter
Hi there-
I am thinking of having a quilt made for dd1. I haven't sewn in years & am going to be re-learning & will attempt to make a quilt for dd2 later. But for now, I found someone on etsy to make this 1st one.

I really want to pick each square of the quilt...I want each one to have meaning or be something dd1 loves. Different cartoon characters, animals etc. What is my best bet for finding/picking individual quilt squares without spending a fortune on squares I won't use.

I do have access to a Joanne's store within an hour or so if that's better than trying to buy online.

you could buy "fat quarters" and/or just regular 1/4 yard cuts of fabrics cut from bolts. That would make more than one square each, tho. I buy 1/4 yd cuts of novelty fabrics to save for making an eye spy quilt soon.
But unless you can find a "charm pack" that has all the fabrics you want, that would probably be your best bet. You could use the scraps to practice and make bean bags or something.

Good luck!

I would recommend going into a store to purchase your fabrics because most stores have very minimum quantity amounts as opposed to online where the minimum might be 1/2 yard.

I would recommend buyin 1o 2 solid colors as *fillers* Joanns/michaels often have % off coupons for their mailing list clients and you could get a good deal on those which would reduce the price a bit.
