Pool hose?

I just purchased a new hose to fill my birth pool and came upon a dilemma. Everyone says to buy a white RV hose to fill the pool, because it is drinking water safe, but all of the RV hoses I have come across are clearly labeled "do not use with hot water" due to risk of explosion/leaking. Of course, all garden hoses say "do not drink from hose" due to lead content. I did find some green garden hoses that say "lead free", but they also say not drink from them. Which hose should I use?

I used a hose intended for filling and emptying aquariums. I ran hot water through it with no problems. I would use the potable hose before the garden hose.

We used the kind of hose you see on soft drink dispensers at restaurants. The online store that sold us the La Bassine pool also sold those hoses. I would definitely make sure the hose is food-grade, no matter what kind you choose.

I think most folks here use the RV hose, hot water and all, without problems. I did.

I know the RV hose we use on the RV has had hot water through it, AL rving summer the hose got hot. But no leaks.

I use a Python No Spill siphon that's meant to fill/empty aquariums and is totally safe. You hook it up to your sink and can not only fill the birth pool, but flip a switch on the siphon to suck water out of the birth pool - either in preparation for adding more hot water or to empty the pool when you're done.

We used the RV hose with no problems.

I'm considering the aquarium hoses this time, though. I need to figure out if there are tricks to attaching them to the spigot or if it's the same as the RV hoses.

We specifically got a hot water safe hose....It's labelled as "commercial duty" safe for hot water uses, and it's red. Our midwives instructions say to rinse a bleach solution through it before use.

I do remember seeing those red hoses before- where did you purchase yours? I know that Home Depot and Lowe's don't have them.

We used the RV hose with hot water. It was fine. I think that disclaimer is more of a CYA on the part of the manufacturer because it's not meant for prolonged use with hot water and the hose could fail under certain conditions.

I'm NOT super eco, enviro minded, but after reading about the hose manufacturing I definitely wanted to go with the drinking safe one.

We got it at a large independant hardware store. I'm second guessing it now, because it doesn't say anything about food/drinking water safety, and has warnings about washing hands after contact. GAH! Trying to figure out if I should be getting the white RV one instead, but I also need a pretty long hose to get from the bathroom to the tub on the deck.

You can get longer rv hoses but might need to go to a rv store.
I would look at washing with vinegar over bleach or at lest using 7th generation type non-chorine bleach.

New plan: actual hot water plumbing pipe...ABS, potable water and hot water rated. Not super flexible stuff, but can make the turn to get from the bathroom back around outside to the tub. Have been advised to hook it to the washing machine water hookup, rather than the shower, because modern valves installed in showers have volume limiters that will make filling the tub very, very slow. DH will have to pull the washer out to get to the hookup, but the potential difference between a 2 1/2 hour fill and a faster one, is very, very important to me. By the time I hit "real" labor, I'm going to want the tub pretty soon, methinks.
