Hi mamas! My son is three weeks shy of a year old and has been nursing about 7-9 times in a 24 hour period. He nurses through the first let-down and then for about 10 more minutes off and on and then is done. He has never really asked for nursing though actual sounds or actions. I offer around the same times every day and he always accepts (though sometimes will only nurse for 5 mins or so) but if I skip a time, he doesn't seem to miss it. I feel like I'm the one keeping the breastfeeding relationship going because I really don't know if DS would nurse at all during the day if I didn't offer. I guess I could stop offering and see what would happen but I afraid of affecting my supply and causing DS needless confusion and unhappiness. Did your LO's naturally drop nursing sessions? Does anyone else have a LO who doesn't seem to care about nursing? DS is always happy for the milk but he doesn't seem to care if he gets it or not. I think that nursing = sleep is his mind so when he's bopping around during the day, it's not something he thinks about. Is the nursing = sleep thing going to bite me down the road? Wow, this post is not making much sense. Sorry, guys! I think I'm just a little confused myself.

My son will be one on the 7th and I could have written this post, word for word. LOLOL!
I also have three older DDs and he ALWAYS needs to know what they're doing and where they are at... doesn't help our situation.
I've had an over supply issue for the entire year, so I am afraid to drop sessions because it seems like my body just keeps producing milk ALL day long, non stop!
He nurses for about 5 minutes, off of one boob only, about 4 times per day and 2-4 times per night. I really think he is ready to go down to nursing maybe 6 times total...? 2-3 during his waking hours, maybe.
I've always been an on demand nurser and I think I am sad that he is entering toddler hood and not a tiny babe anymore.
I guess I'll keep offering every 3 hours or so and see where we go from here.
