If I can do it, so can you... Journey's Weight Loss Journey

February 11th, 2003, I weighed 240 lbs at 5'8". In 8 months, I lost 65 lbs going from a size 22/24 to size 14. I've put on 15 of those lbs, but I've rededicated myself to weight loss, and have decided to keep my weight loss "journal" here at MDC.

Today, I had approximately 1570 calories, 46 grams of fat (27%), 212 g carbs (52%), 81 g protein (21%).

I did an hour and a half of hatha yoga, and I bicycled 6 miles across hilly terrain. Burning approximately 520 calories.

I cheated with a fast food roast beef sandwich that I found in the fridge from yesterday.

I'm keeping track of my foods and activities on Fitday .

My goal is to lose 2 lbs this week, and exercise every day.

Nice job!

July 2003 i weighed 214lbs(wore size 18-20)

Today i weigh 145lbs and wear a size 8-10

I still have a goal of losing 10 more lbs and then i will weigh less then when i was in the 8th grade!I was a big girl my whole life.

My tips-i ate at least 2-3 oz of protein at every meal, filled my plate with either raw or steamed veggies and virtually cut out all complex carbs.I also cut out sugar. The first week was hard but after that no problem.I didn't exercise at all but i do have three kids to run around after. Now that i am in the homestretch i joined a gym and i am loving it.I do yoga twice a week for an hour and then three day of weights and treadmill.

I think I can. I think I can. I think I can.

It's nearly 12:30 here... time for lunch (just letting it cool). It's been a busy morning for me.

Lunch will make 460 calories for me so far, 9 g fat (18%), 80 g carbs (63%), and 20 g protein (18%).

I'm going to use my home gym for at least half an hour later, as soon as the baby wakes up from his nap.

I don't know what will be for dinner tonight.

My goal for today... don't cave and get cookies or candy at work tonight! They bake cookies in the building every night, and I can smell it in all the labs.

Well, calculating what I've already eaten, and what I plan on eating in a bit (low fat yogurt for dessert):

1654 calories, 29% fat, 52% carbs, 19% protein.

Thanks for posting the link to fitday, Journey. It is truly enlightening when you break it down and examine what you are putting into your body. That website makes it so easy!

Good luck to you on your healthy journey I started the South Beach Diet last month and some friends have joined in, so it's easier to keep on track. They hold me accountable!

DH ordered a pizza for dinner. I had two slices. That just KILLED it for me. Ugh.

Today, I've had 1664 calories, 29% from fat. I spent an hour or so cleaning (scrubbing bathtub, toilets, walls) and picking up/organizing the playroom. The bathtub was my workout. Hahahaha! I do hope to get some real exercise in tonight. Why is it not "real exercise" unless there's some machine involved? *sigh*

I've already lost 2 ½ lbs since Monday!

Journey Fitday rocks. I started using it yesterday.

HOLY SMOKES!!!

I am eating like 2200-2400 calories a day. So what if they are all (well almost all) *good foods*.

And even though I am very very active no wonder the scale hasnt budged!

Yeah, I LOVE fitday! I've become the hero for a few college students doing reports on nutrition! LOL!

So far today, I have had 990 calories, 26% from fat.

Today, I FLIPPED out. I went to weigh myself, and it said 217 lbs... it was weighing at least 25 lbs heavy! LMAO! I kept rechecking and rechecking my weight, and it was different every time until I just wanted to chuck the damn thing out the window. I just bought it a month ago! The battery shouldn't be dying already!

Journey
I followed you over here as part of my buddy job I hope that's ok.
I think you're doing an awesome job

I also wanted to mention that I am a nationally certified personal trainer. I quit training shortly before #4 was born because it was just too difficult with pregnancy and a nursling. Anyway, if there is anything I can do to help you in your journey, please let me know.

I have 4 certifications and would happy to assist or provide support in any way I can.

That's what buddy's do

Keri

P.S. I think it's kind of weird that you are on this journey and picked me as your buddy without knowing my training background - fate I think

Wow! That's awesome!

: Now I really have to work on my job as a buddy! LOL!

I was sooo sooo soooooooo proud of myself last night. I had such a craving for chocolate. Ben & Jerry's New York Super Fudge to be exact. I walked all the way down to the store, and realized it wasn't worth it. Do you know how much exercise I'd need to do to burn off a pint of Ben & Jerry's?! No, it wouldn't be just the ½ cup they recommend... it'd eat the whole damn thing.

So, I bought some diet fudgecicles instead. Yay!
