Help Immediately!!! 1 and a half month old pup in need of help!!!

Hi my name is Garbriel. I am 15 years old...An abandoned dog went down the road under someone's car and had 8 pups and then abandoned them. The owner of the car said she was going to throw them away. So I went and I got one because that's all i was allowed to get and he is all white. His name is Polar. When I first got him he was very dirty so i gave him a bath and blow dried him with my hair dryer because he was young so i didn't want to keep him wet long. His teeth were very small so he couldn't eat solid foods so i bottle fed him milk and sometimes cream and water. He was doing quite fine but then he started pooping all over a few days later. He has diarrhea and i don't know what to do. I want to take him to the vet but we don't have the money.

My dad says he have worms and is going to die soon but i don't want him to die.

If anyone could please give me some advice on what to do it would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance...

This may be parvo or any number of things really. In any case your best bet, if you don't have the funds to take care of the animal, is to relinquish the puppy to a local shelter/vet.

I know it's a hard decision, but if the puppy is in critical condition he needs medical attention immediately. You need to do what's in the best interest of the dog.

Well where I live VETS are really expensive and we would still have to pay for the vet to take him in...My boyfriend said he will take him to see the vet Saturday but will Saturday be to late? Or will he have enough money to see the vet because he only gets paid $200 a week.

If you tell us the area you live in, then perhaps we can help you find some local dog rescues that you can call. They might be willing/able to give you meds or get you to be a foster in their rescue and then they can give you proper puppy formula (perhaps) and the meds you need.

I spent a couple of years fostering newborn orphaned kittens and they would would died drinking cow's milk (they can't digest it properly and it doesn't have nearly enough nutrition in it for them to thrive), so I assume puppies can't live off of cow's milk either. The puppy might well be old enough for wet puppy food, though.

Almost all fostered kittens develop a bit of diarrhea or constipation even on formula at first, until their system gets used to the formula (surprise, surprise, as do human babies, too). Your puppy might have well have worms, but if you get in touch with a rescue, they might be willing to give you a dose of something to kill the worms (just a liquid in a dropper).

Alternatively, randomly call local vets in your area, tell them your story and see if they will help you out for free.

thank you for caring about this little pup!!!

Country: The Bahamas

The Bahamas Humane Society told me they are not responsible for the collection of stray or dead animals so they wouldn't take him in.

If the puppy has teeth, it should be able to eat regular canned dog food. Puppies aren't born with teeth, so it's at least several weeks old. I would get some good-quality canned food and offer it. You might need to water it down a bit at first and/or take some on your finger and wipe in on the roof of his mouth it give him the idea and get him interested. At least that will get some good nutrition into the puppy until you can have it seen at the vet. The diarrhea may just be caused by the milk. If the puppy will not eat canned food in any form, you should be able to purchase puppy milk replacer, which is nutritionally complete (well, as complete as any formula can be) at a pet store or a grocery store that has a pet food section.

Buy single grain rice cereal (baby cereal) and goats milk. Mix them together for a gruel for him, for about a week. Then, soak some hard puppy food in water until it's mushy. When he gets eating, you can mix that with the rice cereal & goats milk, for about a week. Offer him hard food for him to nibble on. About a week later (around 6-7 weeks), he'll be just about ready to eat just hard puppy food.

I second the suggestion for trying puppy formula rather than cow's milk, and introducing softened dog food (it sounds like he is old enough for it, but if he is used to drinking milk it may take a little while for him to catch on).

Make sure he is getting plenty of water, since the diarrhea could lead to dehydration.

While he may have worms, those are typically not life-threatening. If you are concerned about worms, you can probably buy a dewormer for not too much at a pet supply store (just be sure to use the right product and the correct dose).

Good luck to you. This puppy is really fortunate to have you in his life.

Thanks everybody for the advice but my puppy Polar just died today. He had worms, ticks and fleas seeing that he lived under an abandoned car in a heap of dirt for a month or so. So thanks for the help. I just wish i could've saved him...
