Considering Homebirth

Dh and I are preparing to TTC #3 after 2 easy hospital births. I am considering a homebirth, but as they are not the norm here, he is concerned. Can someone share some good websites that we can read together?

Well, I don't think they are really "the norm" anywhere in the US! In the Netherlands, yup - I think about 30% of births are HB, but here it's below 1%.

It may also help you to connect IRL with other HBers. If you look for "attachment parenting" or "natural parenting" groups for your area on yahoo or Meetup or LLL meetings. Chatting with them about their experiences I think really helps "normalize" it in your mind. I know it has for DH & I - he's had 2 years since DS was born to get used to the idea & we've known several people who've HBed in that time & he's definitely pro-HB now!

He's even happy that there's the added perk of being cheaper (70% insurance coverage for the HB MW as an out-of-network provider, vs. 80% coverage for in-network-- with the hospital fees, HB is definitely going to be less for us anyway.)

I guess that was a bad choice of words It's pretty much unheard of around here. I've heard that there was a midwife around here that does them, but I have not been able to find her on any of the sites. AP - not a big thing in this area either. I've been looking on both meetup and yahoo - very hard to find. The only midwives in this area that I have found online are affiliated with a hospital, and don't do HB. The whole thing is completely foreign to DH, but he's willing to entertain it. He knows I wasn't happy with my last birth, even though the OB was wonderful.
