I've really been enjoying using Gail Carson Levine's book Writing Magic: Creating Stories that Fly as a jumping off point for creative writing this year. Her blog is great as well. Rick Riordan also has a great blog, Myth and Mystery.

Jane Yolen has a great book called Touch Magic. It's more for adults that kids, but has some great insights into fairy tales and fantasy stories for children. I don't know if she has a blog, but if she did I would love to read it!

I wish J K Rowling would come up with something on the writing process for kids.

Do you have any favorite blogs or books on the mechanics of writing by children's book authors? How do you incorporate them into your homeschool?
