My 4 month old has, for the last 2 weeks, suddenly disliked breastfeeding. She actually refuses to eat most times, so I have to rock her almost to sleep and then put her to the breast to get her to eat. Even if she will eat when I first put her on she will only accept it if I am lying down, she won't accept any other position. This makes it really difficult to go anywhere because I never know if she'll eat while we're out. At first I thought that it was because I was feeding her too much, but I've tried just waiting her out until I'm positive she's hungry and then feeding her and even then she will refuse sometimes (although she's more likely to take the breast when she's shown clear hunger signs). The longest she's gone without eating is 3.5 hours, though she may have gone longer if I hadn't gotten her drowsy to eat. Her nursing schedule is still all over the map... one day she'll eat 7 times, the next 10. And she still eats at various times throughout the day. Has anyone ever experiences a nursing strike? If so, for how long? And does anyone have any tips for how to work through this? I miss how positive and beautiful an experience breastfeeding used to be and I want her to enjoy it too. It's awful to struggle with her to get her to eat.
Any help/advice is appreciated.
