To be blunt, it probably is out of line for you to suggest someone change their style for your personal benefit.

I'm of the opinion that it's okay for you to let your family and friends know about your new business venture, but that it's rude for you to be pushy about it. If they are interested in buying your goods/services, they'll let you know. If you tell them that you think they need your good/services, you're more likely to become a person to avoid than to make a sale.
