babe drank sour breastmilk! :(

my husband unknowingly gave my 11mo DS a bottle of sour breastmilk this evening. it had only been in the freezer for 1.5 months, and with proper storage too, but i dipped my finger in it because it smelled a bit off, and it tasted sour... i guess my milk sours quickly.

this was about two hours ago, DS seems fine - what should i be concerned about? he isn't vomiting. are there any other signs i should look out for, and any serious illnesses he can acquire from this?? TIA

if it is a high lipase issue then kellymom says milk is ok: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping/l...essedmilk.html

Diddo what pp said. I had the lipase issue. Only once did my dd have actual sour milk and she projectile vomitted it across the room = 0

I agree w the pps. Sounds like lipase. And i'll add that you're very lucky your DS tolerates it, many moms report their LOs refuse to drink it. My DS has had a lot of lipase milk and is fine.

For future reference, you can reduce the "off-ness" by putting the frozen BM ice block into a pan and heating it directly to a scald (over low heat). You don't want it to boil, but you want it to steam. It will still taste off to you, but it won't get worse.

thanks mamas. he spit up a little this morning, maybe about a tablespoon, and it just sort of dribbled out. he's really happy & in a good mood so i think he's okay.
