buffalo chicken wings

okay, so I can't use Frank's Red Hot sauce (and I have yet to find a sauce that is safe, and I don't feel like making a whole batch of sauce from scratch today) and I can't use butter/margarine.... so any ideas? I've been craving hot wings lately....

okay, so apparently I'm the only one who craves wings.

So I made hot sauce today:

1 serrano pepper
1 jalapeno pepper
1 clove garlic
1 slice Vidalia onion
2 Tbs. tomato paste
5 Tbs. water
1 Tbs. vinegar

Puree in food processor. Cook on low for 15 minutes. Puree again.

I deep fried the wings for 7 minutes. Then put them in the sauce (2 Tbs. palm shortening, 4 Tbs. hot sauce, 1 tsp. vinegar). Then baked at 375F for 15 minutes (basting with more of the sauce halfway through).

It's missing something though... probably the butter. But still good.

I'm impressed. Not sure I've ever had buffalo wings but it's always fascinating to watch you just create recipes. Today I'm just happy to get through the day with the place a bit cleaner and more organized at the end of the day than at the beginning.

I've been craving wings too but since I don't have a deep fryer haven't given an arse to even bother to attempt it.
Hope they hit the spot!

When I used to make wings, I'd fry them in a pan for like a minute on each side then throw them and the sauce in the crock pot...worked good enough for me.
