When did you put an amber necklace on your LO?

Hey folks,

My DD is 3.5mo and is drooling and chewing on everything. Sometimes she gets cranky and I can't figure out why. I'm wondering if she's having some preliminary teething pain, and considering putting the amber necklace I bought for her on. Is there any reason I shouldn't do this? How old was your baby when you put on a teething necklace?

I put Cecilia's on her at around 2 months old. I have definitely noticed a change in her temperament when I have it off for a day.

I put Eloise's on her at 40ish hours old. Never had an issue with it being there. I put one on Desmond when he was around 3 months. I have never had issue with them having them on as infants.

I put one on DD1 at ~6 months, at about a month for DD2 and at just a few days old for DS2.

this may seem silly but Why? why an amber necklace I haven't heard anything about that...

Amber is a fairly soft resin, and it contains a mild analgesic. When worn against the skin, the warmth of your body heats the amber enough for some of the analgesic to sink into your skin. It's supposed to help with teething pain for babies without giving them medication.

Sorry if this is a dumb question (new mama here!), but isn't is kind of unsafe to have a necklace on a small baby? I would think there'd be some strangulation hazard. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. But if it's safe (and I guess it is if you all are doing it, right?), this sounds like a great idea!!! Glad to find out about it.

I don't mean to threadjack, but a PP mentioned 2 and 3 month olds wearing one for teething. Do they teethe that early? I could've sworn I saw a couple teeth buds on my 2 mo's lower gums, and noticed he's been drooling a lot all of a sudden, but figured it couldn't be teeth already....could it????? Maybe it's time for me to get an amber necklace!!!

The necklace I got is short enough that she never tries to grab at it, and if she did, it's designed to break, and each bead is individually knotted so they won't go everywhere. I feel 100% confident in its safety. Elsa's been wearing hers since she was almost four months.

Not to mention the biggest time I'd be worried about would be sleeping, when I'm not watching her cause I'm sleeping too, and she sleeps swaddled so she can't grab it in her sleep.

I put mine on my 4 month old because I was sure he was teething......7 months-still no teeth.

Do you suppose you could try it for other ailments, too? My dd has arthritis and often has low level pain.

DH and I wear ones for headaches, they seem to work for us. So yes you can use it for other ailments.

She was about 3 months I think. she got her first tooth at 5 months and her other one just a couple days ago (she's 6 months)

I got mine from Inspired by Finn. They have a hyenacart and you can find them on Facebook. They seem to run lots of sales too.

We started having our kids wear them at around 3 months. This LO is seven months old and now cutting her 3rd and 4th tooth this week. It seems to help. Even if it doesn't they are so cute and I get lots of compliments on her necklace.

I 2nd the recommendation for Inspired by Finn.

Why would it be dangerous for the baby to grab it? Just curious. I put ds's on him around 3 months, I think. He is 10 months now, and grabs the necklace all the time. I'm not worried about his safety.

The only concern I would have would be if it wasn't breakaway (it is) and she was able to grab it when I couldn't supervise her (sleeping at night). But it's a moot point since she sleeps swaddled.
