When did you put an amber necklace on your LO? - Page 2

I also have one from IbF - It seems to help. DS had two teeth break through last week at 5.5 months. He has been wearing it (off and on) since about 3 months.

At night, even though we cosleep, I put the necklace around DS' ankle (it fits perfectly wrapped around twice). At night, I just feel more comfortable with it there than around his neck.

You can try. My daughter has juvenile psoriatic arthritis and it does nothing for her arthritis pain but did wonders for teething.

You can buy the necklace made for babies so it will break if yanked on and each of the beads are individually tied on so the whole string does not go every where.

8 Weeks. I think its a bit big on his neck though so he wears it as a bracelet. It fits perfectly on his wrist. The sooner the better I think - they get more used to it then and won't even notice it is there when they are old enough to grab and pull at it, etc.

This is a pic of him with it on his wrist:

He doesn't notice it there at all!

I don't mean to threadjack, but a PP mentioned 2 and 3 month olds wearing one for teething. Do they teethe that early? I could've sworn I saw a couple teeth buds on my 2 mo's lower gums, and noticed he's been drooling a lot all of a sudden, but figured it couldn't be teeth already....could it????? Maybe it's time for me to get an amber necklace!!!
Most babies teeth this early. Teething usually starts around 12 weeks of age. Of course, that doesn't mean they will have a tooth any day from that early on...it just means that is when the teeth start shifting under the gums. Mind - some babies are born with teeth, so it is possible that a baby could actually get a tooth/teeth that early. DS1 started teething around 12 weeks of age - but didn't get his first tooth until 6 months. He wasnt fussed about teething after 7 months when his second tooth came through - but teething really bothered him from about 12 weeks. DS2 - I think he has been teething since 8 weeks. Apparently I got a tooth at three months.

If its an amber teethng necklace in general - I would assume they are made baby safe. I havn't seen one yet that wasn't made baby safe (breakaway feature, beads individually tied, etc).

Hamish has been wearing his for awhile now and a lot of people just think I fancied putting some jewelry on him! lol Very few have said 'Oh is that one of those amber teething necklaces?'... Usualy I just get 'You think hes a girl?' and 'How is that safe?'. As if I would endager my own baby! This baby is in a sling 99% of the day, breastfed, never left to cry, etc...you would think they would get the hint that I do infact have his best interest at heart here! lol

I am going to make him a rose quartz one as well. You can buy rose quartz nuggets that are the same size and shape as the amber on amber teething necklaces and I am then going to buy the same type silk thread and individually tie them...then you can buy the hypoallergenic break away clasps that I shall clasp it with! Rose Quartz is supposed to be calming. We shall see how he likes it!

Cecilia's been showing signs of teething for over a month now, so I would say around 9-10 weeks. It didn't surprise me, since my mom says I cut my first tooth around 4 months old, and the same for my sister's kids.

ETA: Ann, that makes me want to make Cecilia an amber and rose quartz necklace! Maybe with the stones intermixed. So pretty!

I went ahead and put the necklace on her. It won't hurt, and it's super cute.

I never heard of the Rose Quartz idea. My son was playing with his necklace, which is why I took it off of him, but maybe I'll make him a Rose Quartz one.

Thanks for everyone's input!

I've been meaning to buy on of these for LO, I was just on the IBF website yesterday! If you like them on FB you get a discount. Which necklace has everyone liked? If you put it on babe's wrist or ankle are the effects still as strong since it's further from the "problem area" of the gums?
