Home made raw yogurt question.

Hi ladies,

Can anyone enlighten me about how to make my own raw milk yogurt? Can I use one of the stores natural yogurts as a starter? Do I just dump it in a jar of raw milk and leave it outside the fridge for some time? If so, how long? Can I do it without adding any sugar? Sour taste does not bother me as long as it has plenty of good bacteria in it and minimum amount of sugar I'd be happy with the result.

Thanks in advance,
Yulia

Here's what I do - warm raw milk to 110 on the stovetop. While it's warming whisk in the store-bought yogurt (I use Stonyfield Plain Full-Fat). At 110 degrees pour off into glass jars and incubate for at least 12 hours. Know that the texture of raw yogurt will never be that of creamy store-bought stuff, but it's absolutely fabulous in it's own right. Enjoy!

Sounds kind of simple I will be trying this too.

I recently made yogurt using a crock pot recipe, wasn't raw milk but here it is:
Crockpot Yogurt

Put 1/2 gallon of milk in a covered crock pot on low for 2.5 hours. Turn off for 3 hours - leave lid on. Take out 2 cups of the milk and whisk in 1/2 cup of plain yogurt. Mix back into crock pot and cover with lid and a heavy towel for 8 hours. After 8 hours, it's done!
