Ending in Ah/Uh

My 22 month old is learning new words. Many of them she can say just fine. But I noticed some she ads "ah" or "uh" to the end of. I am trying to understand why? When she says "please" for example it's "pea-ah". If she says "eye" it's "eye-ah". And with those particular words, it's every time she says them. It's so strange to me. "mommy" is just "mommy" and "nay nay" is just "nay nay" and "mike" is well, "mick". She can say all those words without adding an "a" on the end. So just wondering, does your kid do this too? Or is my kid just weird? lol.

I think all toddlers are 'weird' in their own way

My 17mo says some words funny too... like "fly" is "fiah" and "frog" is "fwo-ah"... "piggies" = "gig-gees", "please" = "pee", "fish"="foo"... and "sleep" is "sheep" but "sheep" = "baba" And other words he can pronounce perfectly (cow, elbow, hat, kitty cat, tool box, boat)... Oh another funny one is "Hey Diddle Diddle" = "hidioh"

It's normal at that age! Funny, but normal.

So funny to hear this from someone else. My almost 2 year old went to about 4 birthday parties one month. Ever since then, she calls cake "happeah"

She's also had trouble falling asleep since we got back from vacation. SHe normally calls me "mama" But, last night after being put down, all of a sudden I hear her start screaming "mommieah! mommieah! mommieah!"

One other funny one (in the vein of random pronunciations) is her trying to get her older brother's name: Matthew. She said "Mai-you" for the longest time. Then, I think she noticed the "th" but couldn't quite get it in the right place, so she started saying "Fai-you" So we have this game: "Evie say "mmmm", "mmmm, "Evie say "Matt", "Matt", Evie say "you", "you", "Evie say "Matt-you" "Fai-you!"

Ever since her birthday, my 2yo calls cake "birthday" but for some reason it comes out sounding like "tuesday" It took forever to figure that one out.

I love the mispronunciations. When my cousin was learning to speak, she also added "ah" to the ends of words. "It's-ah mine-ah." We teased that she must have been Italian in a former life.

ds calls food "food-ah"
or actually, Fut-ah..

Sounds normal to me. My son turns almost all words into two syllable words. I think it is easier for them to pronounce/understand if there is some sort of change in the word. Kind of like how saying Doggie, helps the child hear the 'g' sound better.
