Make smoothies in advance?

My husband works his first of two jobs at 5:30 AM, six days a week. He loves green smoothies and would like to drink them for breakfast on his way out the door, but he doesn't want to use the blender in the morning for fear of waking the kids up. If I make him one the day before and put it in the fridge, I know it will melt and be more liquidy and less thick/slushy, but if he doesn't mind that, is there any other reason why it wouldn't be fine to do so? What if I made a blender-full every couple days (which would make him 2-3 servings)?

I cant imagine besides the taste and consistency that there would be any reason to not do this if its more convenient. Maybe try making 3 days worth, putting them in the freezer, in individual servings, and take one out each night before. It might not be so foamy and separated which is the experiences I have had making them ahead of time.

Should work fine, that's what I do.

Thanks, I'll try a single serving tonight and see how he likes it tomorrow morning.

My understanding is that some of the nutritional benefits are lost (eg. lower vitamin/mineral/enzyme content) if the smoothie is made in advance, versus consumed fresh. I don't know how much of a difference it is though!

This is my understanding as well, though I don't think enough is lost to warrant skipping it all together. In other words, it's still supremely healthy even if it's degraded a bit.

a smoothie made with ice or frozen fruits/veggies would definitely change. nowadays though, I make smoothies without anything frozen all the time (I actually like them better than little ice chunks in the smoothie), and they're just fine fridged.
