Snack Ideas and Set Up

I thought we could share simple, healthy snack idea for the kids to make themselves. I will make cards to go along with them on the computer showing the procedure.

I have an 8, 5 and 2 yr old.

So far we have:

Banana and Peanut Butter on Rice Cake

Homemade Granola and Apple

Yogurt and fruit

Popcorn and Fresh fruit

Millet and dried fruit

Fresh Veggies and Yogurt Dill Dip

Each of these require minimal prep and are simple for the kids to do.
Edited to add: I figured I needed a peeler, slicer, spreader and trays. I plan to put pb in a small container rather than the big one, so it is easier for the kids to spread. I ordered a peeler, serated knife for each child and a better apple slicer. I already have child sized spreaders and other utensils.

That's a great idea!

We have a snack shelf in the pantry, but it's not snacks that need assembled. I have easy-to-open airtight containers (thanks Oxo!) filled with things like cereal, granola, popcorn, etc that DD can serve herself one scoop each of.

I also have a water pitcher that she can get water out of and a list of the fruit we have in the house.

She just developed the strength to open the fridge a couple weeks ago, so I keep her milk, string cheese, and a container of fruit salad on a low shelf.

But I love the idea of having a snack with instructions to follow!!

We had a snack shelf and the kids grazed more than ate meals, which was frustrating cause they always seemed hungry, so we had a meeting and agreed on 2 snacks a day. (And I have kiddo who needs regular snacks and meals or she gets grumpy)

We had snack shelf for years before and it worked so well when they were little and going through picky periods.
