My garden is being over run by earwigs. Is there a natural way I can kill them off? Please help!

Mine isn't being overrun, but I can see lots of them... I will be watching this thread for suggestions.

We are having a very earwig filled summer. They're all over my hammock, in the garden, in my house (!), I found one in my car, and yesterday I was sitting outside and looked down to see one crawling on my leg. Ew.

I can't wait to read suggestions on how to cut down on the population!

I read that you can set out tuna cans 1/2 filled with beer and they will drown. I tried it last year but our dog kept drinking the beer out so I can't tell you if it works or not

Before I began using Sluggo Plus (meant for both earwigs & slugs) I used shallow cups of veg oil set in soil with 1 tsp. of soy sauce level and I got 10 every morning!!!

I read an article that it is a fairly strange year in that we have a lot of earwigs. There typically isn't this many and that next year should be better.

I know that doesn't help for the troubles you are having this year, but just some info I had learned...

I think diatomaceous earth is supposed to work for earwigs -- we got some to use for general pest control (earwigs, fleas [we've had a terrible flea season down south], etc) but it's like the bugs heard us coming. :P Since we bought the bag, we haven't seen signs of bugs or bugs in the house and I don't want to waste it until I need it. The only catch is I think it needs to stay fairly dry to be effective.

That's what we've been thinking as we're not the only ones dealing with so many earwigs this summer. I was reading in bed one evening when I saw one scurry across my blanket!!!!! I'm hoping it came in/upstairs with the laundry basket and didn't make that trek on his own...

From what I understand, they get into house by accident as they really don't want to be inside.

Pour some hot sauce mixed with water in a spray bottle and spray it all over the garden. Works like a charm. The earwigs hate it!
