More comfortable life vest?

My 10 mo ds is becoming mobil and HATES his life vest. We have been doing some canoing camping trips, but it's pretty miserable with him lately. Does anyone have a rec for a stellar life vest? He's 20 pounds, so I think it still has to be a baby vest with that dumb (but useful) pillow thing on the back.

we have the nemo by stolquist. i think it goes up to 30 lbs. our baby is 20 lbs at 7 months and he doesn't hate it at all. it has a crotch strap and it is soft and fits his body well. it also has a nice beaded grab-strap at the top.

the only negative a read about it is that while it zips up the front, there is no strap to keep them from un-zipping it. however, he is not that agile yet to do so, and i know that by the time he is it'll be time for the next size up. so we ordered it (amazon) and it was a great choice for us. cute too, if you like red (which is very visible in the water).

BTW, my mama used to call me a tough cookie when I was little and I'd say "I not a tookie, mama!" One of her favorite toddler stories about me.

cute! my nickname comes from a total stranger who walked up to me in a bar and said, "buy you a drink, cookie?" my friends were holding me back from decking him but i was laughing too hard - was so old-mannish i couldn't be mad, and he did mean well... so my friends started with toughcookie, and here we are many years later, with a tender sweet baby to modulate my toughness...
