Help! They are trying to take away my natural twin birth! - Page 2

just another thought...could you ask your CP about what would help assure her that your placenta was fine past 38 weeks?

For example, my doctor only felt comfortable going past 37 weeks if I did twice (thrice?) weekly non-stress tests. Fine. I did them. Pain in the butt to go to the hospital that many times a week, but whatever. The babies passed every single one, and it calmed my OBs worries considerably. I think me being cooperative with his desire for certain tests helped him be a better advocate for me getting a natural birth, actually. If he had a concern, we talked about it and found a way around it (or through it) while still preserving the birth plan we'd agreed on.

After a lot of thought, prayer and talking everyone I know ears off I think I have my plan of action in mind. I had to really sit and meditate on my very real situation and not how I would like for it to be. It still reeks to know that just by my geographic location my pregnancy is viewed dramatically different than it would be if I lived somewhere with more birth options. But I have come to terms with it.
I was shocked by the information mainly because my midwife is so fantastic at promoting natural childbirth and supporting women. So I should have kept my head on straight and realized that there was more to the situation than I first realized. I have talked to a lot of mom's around were I live who go to other care providers and hospitals and they all tell me I am crazy for complaining because they see it as nothing short of amazing that they are even going to "let" me "try" for a vaginal birth. I LOVE were I live but I swear for birth practices alone I sometimes find myself fantasising about moving.
So I am gathering the wonderful research that PP have helped me get to and am going to plea my case for why I want to wait 38 weeks instead of 36 and hopefully that will pan out and basically I am just going to have a major heart to heart at my next appointment so I can better understand what is going on. I over reacted but I plead panic as the cause. I just never dreamed that this would happen, strike it up to being naive I suppose.

So do you think it is possible that the idea is that if she schedules an induction then she can schedule it for a day she will be on call at the hospital instead of one of the OB's???

2. Do you think that the idea that I mostly need a doula to help me fight for my rights and to remind me that I do have those rights but dont need a lot of help with the actual labor and birthing process will throw off and be distasteful to a lot of doula's?
1. This is standard twin protocol. My OB went out of her way to find reasons to induce by 38 weeks.

2. You need 1 or 2 good doulas to help hold your space. You can ask them to come to your later apointments to provide emotional support while getting all of the "dead baby" stories they will tell, to convince you to get the induction.

They will also want you to push in the OR with an epidural, and other fun stuff.
