Different Types of Cheese Cake

Cheesecake is one of the most popular desserts in the world. It is also one of the oldest made from a dairy product other than milk.

I have been looking this up but so far I have found strawberry cheese cake and blueberry cheese cake. It does not stop there though check out the rest below.

New York style cheese cake
Chicago style cheesecake
Pennsylvania Dutch style cheesecake
French style cheesecake
Roman style cheesecake
SourCream style cheesecake........ Sour What!!!????


If anyone has tasted this Sour Cream Chesse Cake. Tell me what was the experience like.

Please to share other style of cheese cake too.

I don't know about Sour Cream "style", but I put sour cream in every cheesecake I make.

But you can make cheesecake any flavor you want. I've made mango, lemon, maple caramel, chocolate strawberry, mocha... you can even brulee a cheesecake with the right equipment.

I have a book that is nothing but cheesecake recipes - over 50 of them, IIRC.

Hmm...I'm not sure how it's made, but The Cheesecake Factory's original cheesecake has a sour cream topping. It's delicious!

Italian cheesecake. It's made with ricotta and some lemon juice.
I had no idea there were so many different kinds of cheesecake! I thought it was just NY and Italian. Then again, I grew up in an Italian area of New York

I wonder if 'sour-cream style cheesecake' really refers to a London cheesecake (when you bake the cheesecake base and have a sour cream layer that goes on at the end of cooking, usually at a hotter temp). This is the kind I typically make (or make my sister make - hers is amazingly soft and creamy ).

And btw, off to look into this Japanese chiffon cheesecake asap! I've never heard of that!

This is how I make it, too. There is one in the oven right now in fact!

The only cheesecake recipe I use is a sour cream cheesecake. I don't like regular cheescakes because I find them to be too eggy and dense. But the sourcream makes them creamy and rich!

My recipe has the sour cream incorporated into the batter, not as a separate layer or topping. YUMMO!!
