wetting at night

I'm just curious, as I've been reading a lot on the Diapering forum about nighttime wetting concerns. My DD is 4.5 months old, usually sleeps in two long stretches of 4-6 hrs each (usually... not always!). She sometimes needs to pee/poo at the first waking, and I'm part-time ECing, so I'll take her to the potty then. But sometimes she doesn't need to, and she just nurses back to sleep. She hasn't had a wet dipe at night in some time. Does nighttime wetting happen as they sleep for longer stretches? Or do some babes not pee at night? (Is that wishful thinking or what?! )

I think it might just be natural for some babies. I have noticed that Cecilia, 3.5 months, sometimes wakes up with a dry diaper and then pees a lot upon waking up. We don't EC much, in fact we really have only done it once or twice this week for pooping, so it's not like I have her totally trained, this is just how she is. She often pees when she's awake only.

i'm interested in this, but duh.... what is ECing?

Elimination communication. It's basically using your baby's cues to learn when they eliminate, and therefore being able to keep diapers clean (or go diaperless).

my baby sleeps about 8-10 hours at night and often wakes up with a dry or just barely wetted diaper. if i happen to check the diaper at 5 or so, when she first wakes to nurse, it's usually totally dry. sometime between then and about 8 she pees a lot. i've found the heaviest wetting tends to occur around 9 am though, after she's nursed quite heavily a couple times. even though i've changed her at least once since her first waking, i find she sometimes pees right through the diaper. i would be offering the potty around this time, but the prime peeing time really seems to vary, and i'm not really totally coherent in the morning, so we tend to miss that one.

Some babies don't pee at night.
