What to do about drool?

Because its getting out of hand! lol

So what do you do about drooling?

I am thinking a bib is the best way to go - but I have a few and they just seem to get all twisted round his neck!....and not that it matters but I find them unattractive! lol (are there more attractive ones out there? - I have some that are the triangle ones but are too big for him as yet)

I also find bibs to be pretty ugly, so I have just resigned myself to accepting that the top of whatever Cecilia wears will be soaked! I don't think I will try to find another solution unless her skin starts to be irritated by the drool. There's so much of it, though!

Yeah thats the thing...I noticed his chest was getting a bit spotty from irritation yesterday. And yeah - there is SO much of it! lol

At BRU they sell this tommee tippee bib that has a ring of padding around the neck - I think designed for milk drool - but it works great for the rivers of drool DS has.

That said, I haven't put him in a bib in months, I gave up! around the house he mostly goes shirtless anyway, so it doesn't seem to be as much a problem as when he is wearing clothes. I think it might be the wet fabric that irritates him and not the drool itself.

We deal with a lot of drool also. When ds was little I put some healing cream on his chest and chin during the night. My ds didn't drool much in his sleep. I always thought he was drooling because he was teething, but he is 2 1/2 now and deffinatly has his 2yr molars, and still drools like crazy. Good luck!!

I did figure out that DS gets rashes from drooling when I am constantly trying to wipe it and contain the mess from it. If I just leave it alone, he doesnt get a rash.

And its HOT HOT HOT here, so unless we are actaully going out somewhere, I just have him wearing a diaper, and all the drool just rolls down his tummy If I put clothes on him bc we are going somewhere, then oh well, the front gets soaked!

If your LO has a rash from the drool, try coating the irritated skin with some lanolin to help heal and act as a barrier.

I wasn't a bib lover, but DD was a massive drooler, bibs made it so I didn't have to change her shirt 10xs a day. She was a spitter too.

We spend lots of time shirtless, i resign myself to any shirt getting soaked now.

In the early months, it was too cold for that, and we had 1 bib that he couldnt turn into a cape. It was like a smock, w sleeves. I have not been able to find another like it though, so i made a few out of an old towel.

We have these bibs and the worked well for us. They are super absorbent and don't look too obnoxious either. We called them superbibs. Luckily our river of drool (actually mostly spitup) seems to be drying up.

I don't like the bibs either but I'd rather change a bib then an entire outfit. I just bought different colors to match her outfits...

Same here -- I bought a pack of 10 plain pastel terrycloth bibs in all different colors, so for any outfit she wore there were at least 2-3 bibs that matched and I could just change the bibs throughout the day. Not the cutest thing in the world, but it was convenient and kept her clothes from getting soaked. And I found that she was only really droolly for a month or two and then it tapered off (until the next round of teething!).
