Favorite toys for 2-3yo girls

Hi there,
can you share with me your DD favorite toy? We need to get a gift and I am curious what other kids are playing with.
Thanks!

My DD loves dolls, and everything to do with dolls. Strollers, cribs, blankets, clothes. It is all babies, babies, babies over here.

And I run a home daycare so she has access to all kinds of toys - cars and trucks, blocks, trains, play tools, animals, etc. But she chooses to play with the dolls pretty much all day long.

Books! Craft supplies! Pretty felted play foods!

I second the all babies, all the time. But she also likes duplo (toddler legos), her rody horse, her bilibo and the Fisher Price farm.

my 2.5 yr old likes throwing tea parties for her dolls and playing with fisher price little people and schleich animals.

Baby dolls. She has a lot of other toys she'll dabble with, but everything comes back to the babies.

Our baby girl has many wonderful baby dolls and she pretty much ignores them all. Books are her favorite thing, and also favorites #2 and #3. If this is someone you know fairly well, another huge hit here is a small photo album with photos of her friends and family. DD is also crazy for balls of all kinds.

My dd LOVES to look at photo albums. Also, another vote for dolls.

Mine loves train sets, blocks, crayons and paper, tools. Backpacks! To carry stuff around in. Duplo blocks- OMG. The loving of duplos never stops. Play kitchen, play workbench. The soft indoor Ikea soccer ball. Hot wheels are always a good treat, and they run on universal wooden train tracks. Dollies are a hit as well, but even more so, the cheap plastic dolly stroller that rattles*... they sell it everywhere and kids LOVE it, boys and girls. (Get a blue one so if they have a boy, they can pass it down without anyone commenting.)

*There is not a rattle on it. It is like... just a stroller, but it kind of rattles because it's cheap, LOL! IME kids love the rattling.

My DD is only 20 months but I feel it's important to always try to get her gender neutral toys. She does love her Disney princesses (doh!) but also loves books (especially ones about nature/animals), musical instruments (maracas, drums, etc), lego duplos, playhouse/slide structure, pull back cars/trucks, any kind of balls to kick and throw, etc.

No one's mentioned dinosaurs, dragons or play tents. My DD didn't start being interested in dolls until she was over 3.5.
Oh, mine would love dinosaurs, actually. She loves her play tent as well, but those aren't cheap so I wasn't thinking of it as a gift. If you have more money or Ikea nearby, a tent's a great idea for any child between 9 months and oh, 35! LOL

Train set. And I'd bet no one else will get the birthday girl one.

DD has two dolls and a ton of stuffed animals and they're more than enough. She enjoys playing with her babies, but she doesn't need MORE babies to enjoy them.

DD1 is about to turn 3 in September. Here is what has been getting the most love in our house the past 6 mos or so (i can't remember anything prior to 6 mos )

Books are really the #1 here. LOVES, LOVES to be read to & brings us books all day long. But I don't count them as a "toy" really.

So-besides books,

1) Dolls-we have 2 Fisher Price babies & 2 Corolle. She sets them up for tea, she pushes them around in their strollers, she sets up picnics on the floor, she puts them in her kid sized sling or ssc;

2) Play Kitchen/Play Food & Green Toys recycled plastic tea set - we also have the Plan Toys one but when DD got the Green Toys one she immediately knew to ask for real water in the teapot. She will play for AWHILE with that when there is real water in it.

3) Figures - everything from dinosaurs to my old smurfs & strawberry shortcakes to the Disney ones (those 8 packs have been on sale a lot lately & despite trying to avoid Disney, it has found it's way into our home)

4) Coloring/Painting - these are messier ideas so I don't always gift this stuff.

My DD really liked dishes (plates, forks, knives, spoons, etc.), a little play food, duplo (especially with some of the duplo people to use with it), and her play stroller.

Talking doll, tea set, kitchen set, stroller, hand bags, phones/cell phones. Radio Walker wagon. We had bought it for when she wasn't walking. Wasn't great to help her to walk but, a favorite toy afterwards. We didn't own one but, she loved the play tunnel. Just saw one for 9.99 at Target. We got her an Ikea tent at 3. Wasn't a hit. I think she would have loved it at 2.

A little duplo set with people or animals is always great. They also have some inexpensive cars that are fun like the "farm bike." (on sale right now at Target). Cutting food or felt food is always great, especially if it isn't a basic. DS almost exploded with glee when he got some felt cakes. Play dough is also loved.

If you are looking a more expensive gift, a set of Schliech animals or the Grim Water/Fire/Rainbow/Cave are perpetual favorites in our house.

DD is almost 2 and is loving:
- Duplo/Legos
- dolls/bears - and wrapping them in blankets, pushing them in the stroller, putting them in DS's swing (they are in the swing more than he is)
- wooden puzzles - at least 12 interlocking pieces are the ones that keep her interest
- backyard kiddie pool
- colouring
- helping me bake

DD (2 in November) is all about balls, basketball hoops, and cars/trucks/vehicles. The duplo vehicles are great but she will play with pretty much anything with wheels. Or anything round she can toss through a hoop.

DD is currently loving:

Duplos
Playmobil 123
books: Fancy Nancy, books about animals, and anything alphabet are favorites
felt play food and Green Toy tea set
Ikea train set
SkipHop backpack
Magna Doodle
bracelets
dress up stuff like tutus and old dance costumes
