Help! Smell of vinegar makes DH sick...

Literally! Is there anything I could do to take away the smell when using the vinegar for cleaning and such?

He can eat oil and vinegar on salad perfectly fine, but it seems the smell of it lingering on anything else is too much for him. For instance, one day, I cleaned a small spot on the bathroom floor with my spray of vinegar and water, and he literally had to run to the (other) bathroom to vomit. And this was very watered down spray as it was.

Also, DH wants to try the no-poo, but is obviously afraid to do the ACV rinse. I know there is also lemon juice as an alternative, but he has dark almost jet black hair so I'm afraid it would lighten it too much.

So, do I just switch to Dr. Bronners for cleaning or what?

Thanks in advance for any help!!

I have dark hair and use lemon juice to rinse as I hate the smell of vinegar. Because it's diluted and you end up rinsing it out, it won't lighten the hair. For that you would have to put it on straight and then go sit in the sun without rinsing - and even thing it doesn't usually lighten very dark hair.

My dh freaks out about about the smell too. After reading a thread here, I went & bought some Heinz white vinegar to do my cleaning with. The odor is much, much milder than the other brand I had. Now, if I dilute it & add a little peppermint essential oil, dh doesn't mind it at all.

Thank you!

Thank you both! DH loves lemons, so that might be fun for him when washing his hair. And that sounds yummy to add peppermint essential oil to the vinegar.

I appreciate the tips!
