Growth Spurt in almost 16 mos old?

My ds is still nursing. I WOH full time. At 12 mos, I hang up the pump and my kids refuse all forms of milk not from mommy. Towards the end of my pumping, I would only pump once a day, late in the afternoon and not have any let downs during the morning. Now, almost 4 mos later, I am having not 1, but 2 let downs a day at work! My son is nursing like crazy for up to an hour each morning and his usual nursing when I get home from work, before bed and once during the night. The new thing is that he'll stay on one side for a maximum of 20 seconds before switching, even when the milk is flowing. Eventually, he'll settle on one side for a few minutes but not before doing the switheroo about 15 times. I don't get it. My daughter did not do this. I really don't understand what is going on.

Anyone with suggestions on what is happening here?

It could be tons of things but yes, 16 month olds can go through growth spurts. Actually, my 9 and 11 year olds still have growth spurts and it's very evident when one is coming on, because they eat so much more than usual! (it's not breastmilk though, they weaned a while back )

Every child is different though so you really can't compare your son to your daughter; it just won't work.

THanks. I totally get that they are different. I only offer the difference to show that I have no prior experience with this and would appreciate the input. I do know our children go through growth spurts throughout childhood. I was just kind of wondering if this was a "normal" one. I couldn't recall.
