I feel like I can fly!

Yesterday my little dd (13 weeks tomorrow) found her thumb!
She was in her bouncy seat which is usually only for 10 minutes tops before she needs to be put back in the wrap.
Well- she was so content while I was loading the dishwasher that I couldnt believe my good luck. I bent down to sing a dorky song to her and saw her sucking on that cute little thumb. It was so cute and delicious.

I started to cut up a cabbage and it turned into a homemade coleslaw. She was so happy that I continued and made a fresh batch of salsa and then cut up a canteloupe for the fridge.
I have not been able to do that much at a one time for months! It was great.
Later I realized (like a dummy) that it probably would have been my only opportunity to sit down and relax for a little while (which Im sure none of us have done in months)
Anyway, I just had to tell someone this news!
I felt light as a feather because Im so used to carrying her royal fussiness around ALL day.

Yay!! Now send a little of that good luck over here.

DS occasionally finds his fingers to suck on. Today that resulted in him gagging himself and puking all over me.

Oh triony, I am sorry!

Cecilia consistently finds her fists no problem, and slurps very noisily on them. The few times she's gotten her thumb or a finger in there she has made really surprised noises and then gagged.

It's nice to have your arms free for a little while.

Ada has been sucking on her fingers for weeks. She chews on them hard! Sometimes she gags herself too then looks shocked and confused. Anything she gets in her little hands she desperately tries to put straight into her mouth and she's so frustrated when she can't quite get something in there.

That reminds me of today-- we got a Sophie Giraffe for Cecilia, and she instantly got it up to her mouth, as I expected. However, neither she nor I were aware that it's squeaky, and when she squeezed it and it squeaked, she burst into tears, my poor girl! I jumped too, admittedly. But a few minutes later she was fine with it:

Wow, I am jealous! My girl has been fist and finger sucking since birth but isn't able to consistently find them... I have been hoping for weeks and weeks that she'll get better at sucking on her fingers and thumbs when she's tired, since that's the only thing that puts her to sleep currently (MY fingers). She too gags herself more and more, today I thought for sure she was gonna barf!

OMG, that picture is so cute!!!

We haven't gotten a Sophie because I dread the squeak. I'm sensitive to high pitched sounds sometimes, and I'm guessing it'll drive my dog nuts, too..

I think you could desqueak her some how. My friend's son had a sophie and she didn't squeak any more. then he lost it. so they got a new sophie. then he found her again, and they gave us the newer sophie because they wanted to keep the one that didn't squeak

If I recall correctly from my dog's toys... if you put another hole in it, it will stop squeaking. I don't have a Sophie, though, so I don't know that they operate the same way

Awesomely cute pic of Cecilia!!

Sprout can't seem to NOT put his hands in his mouth! I'm constantly fending them off when nursing, or he'll knock my nipple out (as if we didn't have a hard enough time maintaining a latch as is! )
Cecilia does that too, Jen! I give her stuff to hold onto now because otherwise she constantly breaks her latch!

Aimee -- I tried that, but he just tries to put THAT into his mouth! So we thumb wrestle. I shove the thumb of the hand I have to support my breast with into his palm and use that for him to hold onto and me to direct him away.

Lol - I didn't know it squeeked either!... Reminds me of when Hamish farted at only a few weeks old and it made him jump and cry! bless their wee souls!

It feels good when you suddenly find time to do things you havn't been able to do doesn't it!... I was able to put hamish down for a nap after he feel asleep on me in the sling and he napped for three HOURS!...I had three hours to run around the house FREE! And yeah - it was only after he woke up that I realised it would have probably been a good idea to nap with him during that time as well...but hey ho! lol He is a pretty good lap baby too - so if he isn't tired and more awake, I can just sit him on my lap whilst I watch desperate housewives... Oh yeah...thats not back on tele till October..boohoo!!!

Hamish still hasnt found a finger yet really. He sucks and slurps away at his fist all the time though. If he gets any in his mouth it is usually his pointer finger and thumb together - but they arn't a very good match for actual comfort sucking. His new thing is to get his pointer finger in his mouth WITH my nipple when he is having a feed - cause clearly just a boob isn't enough for him! lol Makes for interesting nursing sessions!
