Venturing into mama cloth

I hope it's ok to discuss mama cloth here...

Anyway, i want to start using it, as i am finding the sposie stuff awful to wear and itchy, not to mention making me stinky. I want to start off with just some panty pads (I wear them every day, so having a good stash of these would truly save me money). What ones are inexpensive but sturdy? What style is easiest (I assume an aio style)? Thanks!

Freshies makes a great pad which has a snap-on top layer that can be removed/replaced throughout the day if you have a light flow or want to use as a liner .

Thanks! Those Freshies look lovely but very complicated, lol.

I have some Zorbies from www.babylainediapers.com
They look great, haven't got to use them yet. (No AF since 1997) :LOL
Plus, she sells AWESOME honeyboys! :LOL

I am also just starting with mama cloth... I read a lot of the reviews at Diaper Pin: http://diaperpin.com/diapers/itemlist.asp?subcat=PADS

Also, the Natural Home and Body Care board has some threads you could review...

You could always try a sampler pack from http://www.diaperware.com/mothercare.html

Thats what I did and it really helped me figure out what styles I liked

I like my Snoogie Snap AIO's. Very simple! www.snoogiesnaps.com

I even converted my 23, single SIL who just moved in with us! SHe loves that they don't stink & are so soft. Her periods are lighter too. 2 pads a day is better than every couple hours.

My favorites are Kristin's Cloth, but I heard somewhere that she wasn't making anymore.

I'm not sure which are my fave, as I've only been using a few brands for a few months.
I really like my Rythm and Blues pads and really don't like a pad I have that is PUL backed next to the underwear. I like PUL in a pad, but not as the entire layer next to the underwear, because it is too smooth and makes the pad slide back or forward in my knickers and out of the zone it needs to be in!
There are a lot of pads out there that also tend to curl and twist in the dryer. They straighten out with some coaxing, and after you've been sitting on them for a bit, but I'd rather they layed nicely from the start. My Rythm and Blues pads don't do that, they hold their shape.
I was surprised that I still have smell issues with cloth, after reading so many say they don't. It's not as bad as it is with disposable pads, but it's by no means gone, either.
My favorite is my Diva cup by far. (I know, not mama cloth, but have you given it some thought?)

Moving to Natural Home and Body Care.

Hi Chemigogo. I am new to this too. I just ordered some from The Enchanted Nursery (theenchantednursery.com). She has the best prices I have seen, $3.95 for overnights/pp & regular size, $1.95 for mini pads. No shipping charges. (I don't have them yet, but have ordered other products from here & the quality is excellent.) They are AIO, which seems to me to be to be the easiest way to go. When I was shopping around I got overwhelmed w/the choices & the prices , so decided to start here. Good luck.

I really liked the ones from www.mrsmacadoos.com , Liz's Cloth, and Mom and Me Creations. My absolute favs are the Mrs. Macadoos ones, though.

I got mine from cloth4momandbaby- she also sells on ebay. These are the simplest I've tried- an AIO that snaps on, all one piece.

I also have some I fold and stuff. These are softer and get cleaner, but it is like doing oragami to get them all folded right. I go them awhile ago from Lisa Janey- can't remember her web site. I like the feel of these best, but for simplicity like the hemp AIOs.

Well, i know i MUST have simplicity if i'm to do this. I refuse to stuff any pockets that are that small . Thanks so very much for all the suggestions! And i figured out the perfect storage, too: there is a diapering site that sells small wet/dry bags, they are sewn together, one waterproof one not. If they hold a couple or three large dipes, i can imagine they'd hold plenty of pads! I will check out the AIO ones, i think.

I love my Mom & Me Creations pads ... they are so soft and comfy. I'm also really loving my pads from Clothwear4mom&baby. They are very simply and she uses really cute fabric. My third favorites are TLC pads ... she makes a fold-out aio that I haven't tried yet but looks really cool.

Thanks Brit & Monica

I'm so glad you liked my pads, I"m working hard on wholesaling my pads to other retailers. I still sit here and sew all my own pads, it keeps me busy, I also purchased my first professional sewing maching a few months ago. I'm in the process of redoing my site and a new wholesale site.. Thanks again for the great reviews, hope to see you again soon..
