Are gender dreams predictive?

  • 69% (23)
Yes - all my dreams pointed to one gender and that's what baby was.
  • 30% (10)
No - all my dreams pointed to one gender BUT baby was the opposite.

I'm curious how many have found their gender dreams to be predictive of baby's gender.

If you had dreams that were consistently about a specific gender, did you eventually birth a baby of that gender?

I've left the options at just 2 - yes or no. I do mean *consistent* dreams, such as with this one, I've had only dreams about one gender. With my last, I had *mostly* dreams of one, then a major dream of the other. Baby turned out to be the latter. So answer if you can tell based on ALL your dreams being about one gender.

Just one more of my not-quite-scientific polls.

I should preface this by saying that I am so not one of those people who "knows" these things, in fact I have sworn up and down my twins were girls (b/g) and then that this baby was a boy (girl).

But anyhoo, here is my story. With my 5th baby, we had an amnio that told us she was a boy (and thats like a 99.7% sure thing, I think?) so we bought ALLLLL boy stuff. I had two daughters already and so I had put all their clothes/blankets/ pink stuff on ebay to make way for more blue blue blue!! The night before the listing ended, I dreamt I was in labor. My OB came in and said "Mrs Lastname. This baby is a girl, but I cant deliver her until you end that eBay listing...."

I woke up, cancelled the listing and a few weeks later saw a perfect girl anatomy. She is now 2.5. It was amazing that it was right, because like I said I have been SOOOO wrong about this kind of stuff before and since. That was my only gender dream though, normally its just my "feelings" that are off.

Love it! What an awesome dream!

I have had non-stop and sometimes very intense girl dreams with this one. But last time, I had mostly girl dreams (not so intense, except maybe one birth dream), but eventually had a dream in which I had an u/s showing a full-color, fully-dressed little boy. I laughed it off as being entirely wrong since it was so crazy... and then had my 3rd boy a few weeks later. So I'm really curious if there's any real pattern to dreams and their predictive power!

I had several dreams that ds was a boy and even picked out his name in my dream and it is the name we used....also i had never even really known anyone with that name or even heard it in any recent amount of time before having that dream and picking it.

I also had dreams about my first pregnancy (that i lost at 12.5 weeks) and in that dream the baby was always a girl, so in my heart i believe that my first was a girl.

This time I had one dream that it was a boy, but it was a very fleeting moment ...not the focus of the dream (like my other two were), so i'll have to see if i have any more dreams. If not, i'll assume boy, but not be 100% sure of course...if i have other dream we shall see!

I don't really remember having lots of gender-related baby dreams. They were usually dressed or the gender wasn't important or part of the dream I remember.

BUT, this pregnancy, I'm 10 weeks and I keep dreaming about a little girl, or two(YIKES!) and she always looks exactly the same! BUT, I do have 5 boys and everyone around me is craving a girl, LOL

I didn't really care if I were having a boy or girl this time (since I have one of each) but dreamed of a little blond haired boy all through the early pregnancy.

But three ultrasounds now have said girl!

I've never dreamed anything other than boy although I don't have very much life experience with little girls. 18 week ultrasound shows a definite boy!

With my first, I had several amorphous girl dreams, and even a lot of strong feelings that the baby was a girl. Then, about two weeks before my big u/s, I had the strangest dream. I dreamt my sisters threw a surprise baby shower for me, and everyone there wanted to know the gender. My older sister said, oh, I've had a c-section, so I know all about how to do them. So they put me on the dining room table and took the baby out and started passing him around. My sister was holding him and said, oh, do you want to know the gender? I said, well, we were going to be surprised... but since he's already out, I may as well peek. So we did, and there he was, all boy. Then I said, well that's good to know, but let's put him back so he can cook longer. And she did.

Ahem. Two weeks later at the big u/s, the lady asked me if I wanted to know the gender. I said I didn't, and she said she wouldn't say anything during the gender portion of the anatomy scan. SO, she was all chatty, then got really quiet, so I could tell she was at the area where gender would be apparent... and the whole time I'm looking at the screen, so fascinated by the process that I couldn't look away. And I saw very obvious boy parts - no mistaking things, it was 100% obvious. I wasn't really surprised, even though I'd been thinking girl so much, because of my dream.

So I couldn't exactly answer your poll, since I had a bunch of vague girl dreams but one vivid boy dream, and he turned out to be a boy.

I had quite a few *extremely* vivid dreams and even one before I was pregnant with my DS. I also had a very strong feeling he was a boy, I just knew. We didn't even talk about girl names or look at girl stuff!

This time I've not had any gender specific dreams yet but I was laying in bed and in that place between awake and sleep (you know the place) and I suddenly woke up and thought OMG it's a girl. No idea what made me think that, I just did. I'm not 100% certain with this one though like I was my son but we'll see!

My gender dreams have been spot on with all my babies except this one. So I didn't feel right answering yes to your poll because I was wrong with this one.

I have had only girls dreams with this pregnancy with the exception of one boy dream right before we found out I was pregnant. About a week before hand I dreamed that my whole family (in-laws, distant cousins, everyone) was snowed in at my grandmother's house. I got hot because there were so many of us sleeping in front of the fireplace in the living room so I went outside to cool off. I looked over and there was this little boy with no shoes on walking up the hill through the snow but not leaving any foot prints. I ran over to him sinking down in the snow and used my coat to bundle him up and kept asking him where he had come from but he wouldn't answer me just kept smiling up at me so I took him in the house to warm him up and I woke everyone up to see if they knew who he was and where he belonged. They all said that they had never seen him but that since I had taken him out of the snow I should get to keep him. But that was only the one dream, and it was only one boy instead of two and it was before I even knew I was pregnant so The rest of my dreams have been about a little girl named Juniper Snow that I need to take to the hospital but I cant get out of the house because the snow is too deep.

.... Reading over this post I think maybe I need to lay off the spicy food before bedtime for the rest of this pregnancy...

Oh and our oldest son has insisted that we were having a boy while I was pregnant with his brother and a girl when I was pregnant with his sister. With this pregnancy he just shakes his head and says he doesnt know. Maybe twins just throw everything off in that area???

The only dream I've had about this bean was that I had twins, one boy and one girl. Twins are highly unlikely, so only time will tell

During my last pregnancy I had a ton of boy dreams. I had a boy.

I haven't had too many gender dreams this pg, but the ones I have had are of a girl, and we are having a girl.

So unless this little girl turns out to be a boy, my answer is "yes".

I had one very vivid little girl dream early on in pregnancy.. however, all the way along (before finding out) I had dream upon dream upon dream about little boys and teenage boys...
She's a girl, so aside from that one dream, all the others pointed in the wrong direction.

With my daughter I dreamed for the first 4-5 months that she was a boy. I had miscarried 3 months prior to getting pregnant again and I always felt i had lost a boy but it was way too early to know. Anyways about two weeks prior to my ultrasound I had a very intense dream and this little brown haired girl kept calling me mommy and I kept telling her that I wasn't her mommy and I was waiting for my son....

Ultrasound confirmed GIRL two weeks later. :-) Now number 2 is a boy but I didn't have any gender dreams with this one.
