Sorry everyone, life got a little crazier than normal a while back. Parker broke his leg on valentine's day and that triggered a downward spiral in William. He did cause the fracture but as far as they both say it was accidental. Anyway, the leg is almost back to normal. Parker didn't finish kindergarten but his teacher agreed that academically he was ready for 1st grade. He started social skills training and its moving along a bit. He just celebrated his 6th birthday.
William is no longer a little boy. He is maturing and getting bigger. He started wearing glasses this past spring. Psychologically he kind of spiraled out of control starting in the middle of Feb. That has led to the decision to medicate him. We waited for school to be over so we would have time to tweak his meds. Currently he is taking adderall and risperidal and is doing pretty well. We are close to him getting an additional diagnosis of bipolar disorder which wasn't a surprise to us. Currently though his psychiatrist doesn't see a need since he is currently doing ok on the meds he's on. We can now leave the house with him again and he actually sleeps. He is even trying to eat new foods. Really i'm amazed at well he is doing. It has however triggered some more anxiety and a few bouts of depression so it's not all roses. He will be starting 3rd grade next month and there has been a little talk if him going to a mainstream classroom for science and some fun stuff this year.
Anyway just wanted to say hi and give an update. Hopefully I will be around a lot more.
