What did you do today?

These always get lost in the forum shuffle!

I spent the day going through boxes in storage.

The results:
- 6 bins are now 4 bins
- At least 3 large paper bags of stuff to throw away
- A very large trash bag to donate!

I also went through our "important stuff" drawers and got those consolidated as well.

I have been wanting to do this for months!!!

I went to step class this morning , but after that I sorted through 4 boxes of outgrown kids clothes and baby items and put hangers & price tags on all of them, so they're ready to sell at this year's big kids consignment event in San Jose. I didn't check "return to seller" on most of the items, so they should all be out of my life after the event is over! I'm so glad this is done! I only have 1.5 weeks left of summer vacation and I still have so much left to do before I go back to work! I'm taking a lunch break right now, but I also plan on having this house clean before the end of the day!

Before we took our children to a friend's b-day party, I actually snagged my hubby to "help" in the basement storage, lol! We have added about 2 boxes to the donate pile (we have the Nat'l Children's Center coming to pick up donations on Thursday, woo hoo!). Hoping to do some more later today, too

It's the morning here...hoping to get lots done today!

I am working on putting away all the books in storage boxes, so we can move a large bookshelf out of our bedroom. It just collects dust near to where we sleep so I am keen to get this done asap.

Here in the midwest, you get maybe one or two times a year when your basement floods good, and forces a (soggy) decluttering session. Today was the day!
tossed:
2 Christmas trees
1 plastic bin worth of ornaments
2 plastic bins worth of old papers (recycled)
coffee table
(note how plastic bins don't keep the water out.. )

3 bags for Goodwill
4 bags for various relatives
3 bins of books/music to donate to college

but in return we have 8 inches of water that no one wants to take... and it's green from the wet Christmas trees

Oliver's mama...can you possibly install shelving up high in your basement, to avoid things getting so wet during the floods?

I am working on DS's bedroom again today...trying to get the stuff off the floor, I get so used to it being messy that I tend to develop clutter blindness when it comes to toys etc...

unfortunately it's a four foot crawlspace, getting things a few feet off the ground just about takes you to the ceiling.
we're opting to just get rid of everything and not store anything but empty plastic bins for moving down there.

Oh I so need to 'play'

9am dropped off DS at drama class
came home and showered, had to 'farm' on facebook LOL
mopped the kitchen floor (new puppy)
took out trash (new puppy)
took roommates laundry to HER room, not the laundry room UGH
11am picked up DS from drama class and remembered to bring his lunch

Stopped at library system #1 for summer reading program and turned in forms for free book and goodies

Headed to barnes and noble to turn in some summer reading forms for FREE BOOKS
went across the way to STAPLES for cheap/free school supplies and backpack

Came home, swapped out the laundry, let the dog out, picked up the library books and library reading forms,

1pm went to library, turned in summer reading program and recieved free book from library system #2

Stopped at grocery store for milk for dinner
Dropped of donations at good will on the way home.
230 home and tired

Started to enter coke points, DS started an art project to use up 'crayola color wonder' items...

If the world does not come to an end we will be having Ham, potatoes, and peas around 5pm.

NEXT Please....

Oh, can I play? DS spent the day with my parents, so I got a lot more accomplished than usual.

I:
Sorted through all of ds's and my clothes
took 3 bags of said clothes to Goodwill
organized dh's and my closet
took all of the unnecessary clutter out of the bedroom
painted the bedroom
hemmed and hung 8 new curtains
ironed my pinky in the process
bought and hung 4 new bamboo blinds
primed 90% of the dining room so it can be repainted tomorrow night
sorted through my massive collection of pots, pans, kitchen appliances, bowls, pitchers, etc and paired it down to just the essentials. Gave the rest to a friend's daughter for her first college apartment.

I'm pretty proud of myself today.

I feel like I haven't done anything today. I'm sick though.

I did end up:

taking the dog for a walk
cleaning up the kitchen
straightening the basement family room
doing a load of dishes
loading and taking back the table/chairs from DS's birthday party

So I guess I didn't sit on the couch as much as I thought. And I still need to take the dog for one more walk after dinner.

You know what I've decided I want right now? I want to be a husband. Just until I feel better so I can be pitiful and act like I'm dying because I have a cold.

I managed to organise a huge pile of paperwork, and then put all of my clothes on to the bed - and put away only the things that I wanted to keep - there's 1 huge bag to donate now

Yesterday:

I bought and hauled 500 pounds of sand, dug a new pathway to the garage and laid about half of it with sand and flagstone.

Today:

Need another load (or more) of sand and will finish the new path.

Take a long, hot bath.

Tomorrow:

Enjoy walking to the garage on a new smooth path. No more mud puddles!

Not today specifically, but the weatherization guys are here this week so this weekend I had to declutter our laundry room (success!), organize the highly cluttered garageso they could get access to the attic from there, and remove a bunch of stuff from a currently dysfunctional half-bath that we have been using as a closet.

Also we are packing for a big camping vacation, so I had to pull out our camping stuff from storage and organize it, decluttering along the way.

And I have a huge seasonal sewing project going on right now, so I've pulled out all of my sewing stuff and fabric stuff, decluttering along the way. It's all laid out in my sewing area but will go easily and neatly back into storage when I'm done.

I took a load of recycling, a load of stuff to the swap shop, and dropped off some nicer giveaways to friends. More of that today.

If I am really lucky, the last week of August (when I am gone and DH is home), DH will do more work in the laundry room and half-bath to get them closer to "put back together." This will be a tremendous improvement in our house. Right now there are open concrete walls without insulation, needing drywall and paint after some plumbing work is done. It's all in DH's court so I have my fingers crossed.

Currently up for decluttering: Vaporizing Mt. Laundry from the bedroom.

This evening, I packed 5 bags of clothes that no longer fit my babes. Tomorrow, it's going to the Goodwill. For a brief moment, I thought of taking it to the consignment shop, but nah...

It feels great!

I sorted through all of my DS1 and Ds2's clothes and got their closet re-organized (all the clothes they are currently wearing are in their dressers). Which meant I took everything out and sorted through it... I have a lot of stuff (0-12 months) that needs to be either taken to consignment store(s) or priced for the twice-around-for-kids sale, or donated. Sometime in the next couple days I'll go through it again and sort into 2 different piles: Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter.

Then I just have to decide if I really want to price it and sell it at the kids' sale or just take it to consignment. At this point, I'm leaning towards consignment as I just want the darn closet emptied out!! But we'll see.

Made a full meal for friends who recently had a baby, took care of a sick 5-yr old, did about 7 loads of laundry (bedding galore, towels, normal stuff...bad me for putting it off, so up and down 3 flights of stairs while 31.5 weeks pregnant, ugh!), got rid of 2 grocery bags of "stuff," started going through old letters between DH and I during our long-distance courtship

Tomorrow I am going through our box of deployment correspondence to keep the special ones, doing some more laundry (I hit the used uniform store for my kindergartner and need to wash it all), and nursing my baby girl back to her usual spunk

Today I did 3 loads of washing...hung out two...dried the third in the dryer...made son's bed with clean sheets, listed 3 lots of books on ebay, swept kitchen floor, unloaded dishes, went to doctor for women's business tests, did grocery shopping, collected boots from repair, and went for a 45 minute walk!

Mostly kitchen stuff

I swept / mopped kitchen. Then vacuumed and dusted a few corners of the kitchen.

Took DS to the park.

Made a slammin- PB shake - I could feed 3-4.

Also finishing diaper load - I've got 1 more to go.

Unloaded / loaded dishwasher. Organized a box of office supply stuff in the kitchen. Took the trash out.

Still to do: laundry:

Wash curtains
Wash more diapers
Get caught caught up with mine and my husband's laundry
I'd love to get a few things of DD clean, before she comes home from camp! It's just literally 3 or 4 items, though.
