Baby laughs at gas

My DS is juts over 6mo. I know babies get gas, however, in the past week or so, whenever he passes gas, he starts cracking up hysterically. The first couple of times this was really funny. But now, I'm starting to worry that maybe this could continue to when he's older.

Has this happened to anyone?

This is going to sound weird...but it probably tickles or just feels odd. My DS does that sometimes too (he's 15mo) and he's been doing it for a little while now.

I wouldn't worry. You can always explain later.

my husband does this as well! apperantly it's genetic-- my ds smiles when he burps, and DH says that FIL did the same.

It's a guy thing.

will it continue? you bet! don't all boys, young and old, laugh at their farts? i live with 4 guys, one under 8 months, and i'm the only one in the house who doesn't find her farts downright hilarious.

I will respectfully disagree. My daughters laugh histerically at passing gas, esp my 4 YO. She is quite able to fart on demand.

The thought of a 6mo doing this is more than I can handle... how adorably funny! You *must* get it on video!!!

Thanks for all the replies. I feel much better at just laughing with him now! And good idea, Black Orchid, I will try and get it on video.

oh please do try to get it on video! it sounds like it'd be SO much fun to watch.

however, i grew up with all brothers and am the weird girl who thinks farts are funny because of it.

This is so darn cute.
You can teach manners later, let him fart and crack up all he wants now!

I concur - there is time for manners, let the little one have fun

Considering how many babies cry because of gas hurting them, I wouldn't change a thing. =)

I *still* think farts are funny. And I never had brothers.

I hope my DD goes through a stage like that. I think it would brighten my day!

I can assure you, it is not just males. DD has been known to crack up when she lets one rip, especially if it's one of the more odorous ones.

ETA: She can also burp the alphabet... I'm so proud of her sometimes.

You know... If farts weren't funny, Seth MacFarlane wouldn't be a millionaire.
