Hypothalmic Amenorrhea...?

Hey everyone,
New to the boards, so if this thread needs to be moved, or if there is a similar one out there please let me know, I'm new to all of this!

DH and I were happily wed back in May, but we have long been TTC #1...was just diagnosed with hypothalmic amenorrhea yesterday, and am curious as to if anyone else has experienced this as well?

The doctor wants me to see an endocrinologist, before we start off with clomid. was wondering was anyone successful with this condition, and which paths did you choose?

I was born with growth hormone defficiency, so this all stems from that...just looking to see what anyone else has experienced in relation to this...

Thanks for any help, advice, support...can't wait to make some great friends!

I am sorry I cannot be of great to help to you as I have no personal experience with this, although I have been reading some interesting things about hypothyroidism as of late, especially at http://thehealthyskeptic.org/the-mos...hypothyroidism

Not sure if it is applicable in your situation but I thought I'd at least share the resource

I had the same diagnosis. I went thru the whole clomid & IUI process. Clomid didn't do anything for me. After several cycles of that we tried IUI with injectibles. I produced a lot of follicles with those meds, but we had to cancel the IUI because there were too many. Logically, the best step for us was IVF. It still took us 4 IVF cycles to get our DD (and then 2 more IVF cycles to get our 2nd DD), but it DID work.

My advice (b/c hindsight is 20/20, of course):
Don't try a ton of procedures that you feel aren't working. Go with your gut. And if you don't feel like your RE (reproductive endocrinologist) knows what he's/she's talking about, see someone else! My first RE had no idea why the IVFs weren't working. On paper everything looked great. So I tried a different RE (and a different protocol) and it worked. Educate yourself....learn about the procedures and meds. A good msg board resource is http://ivfconnections.com

Dealing with infertility and going thru IF treatments is like a HUGE emotional rollercoaster. It will be very tough....it's the hardest thing I've ever done....but the outcome is SOOOOO worth it.

good luck!!!
