increased lochia?

Okay sorry if this is TMI. My dd was born 10 days ago - my bleeding was not very bad at all, much less than with my ds. Then today I went through a pad in about 3 hours. It totally freaked me out - was a orangish-red and I had felt a couple of "gushes" of it when I stood up. I've definitely been up and around more the last couple of days, but not going crazy. Now I've been laying down for a couple hours and it seems to have slowed a little. Is it normal for post-partum bleeding to be sporadic, or should I be concerned? I feel fine otherwise - stitches are feeling much better today, and I'm not feeling ill at all...

Sounds normal. I think as long as its not soaking a pad an hour or running/dripping or looking bright red like "real" blood instead of menstrual blood or large clots you're good...especially if you're feeling well.

I'm nearly 3 weeks and theres been some increase in some thin stringy type clotty material with mine...I'm sorta freaked but other than that theres no increase in "flow"...and I feel fine and the color is darkish purple/brown...so I'm just watching. Last week I would occasionally still feel a gush, especially if I've been doing stuff around the house.

hang in there. imo this is the worst part, this bleeding.

Thanks! Mine seems to be similar to yours - some little stringy clot-like things, and the color is changed from the darker to pinkish. I definitely think this is the worst part! And most of the summer with no swimming is such a bummer!

I agree..this is my second summer baby and it's a whole summer gone when you're PP.

I'm not holding my breath but maybe maybe I am coming to the end of this lochia nonsense...

The same things happened to me, too. I had hardly any lochia, then around 7 days PP, when I got a little more active, it increased and I had occasional 'gushes' when I stood up. Bummer, since I was thinking/hoping that it was tapering off! Guess it's just normal.
