Still experiencing lochia at 4 wks pp; normal?

I had my baby on Feb. 17, and I am still experiencing a very light flow of lochia, or at least I assume it's lochia. Is this normal? With my son, I quit bleeding around the 2.5 week mark. This time, I feel like it's never going to stop. : I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced postpartum bleeding that lasted this long. I mean, it's been a month! I'm starting to think I'm going to be wearing a pad for the rest of my life.

From what I've read, it can last up to 7-8 weeks.

It's definitely normal to be still bleeding at 4 weeks. I didn't stop completely for 5 or 6 weeks after both of my birth. By the time my babies were a month old, I was mostly just spotting though. If you start bleeding MORE at this point you are probably trying to do too much and should rest more!

i bled with my 3rd for almost 8 weeks. it gets old though doesn't it?

Definitely normal! I bled for seven weeks.

i bled fairly heavily for about 1-2 wks and still *needed* to wear something in my underwear (liner/pad) up to about 10 wks post partum. It was only very light but still noticeable.

4 wks is very normal from everything i've read and heard.

yep, I was six weeks with ds1 and eight weeks with ds2, with a 'surprise' reappearence for a week a week after that.

(my sentence construction is getting worse...)

2.5 weeks is incredible!

Are you still getting pains? or losing big clots? if not, then i'm sorry to say that it IS normal, as everyone else has said. sigh... it's just not fair!

Nope, no big clots, thank goodness. And, it is down to a very, very light flow. I guess I just got spoiled by how quickly it disappeared last time! Although, last time I did have a Cesarean birth; I wonder if that has anything to do with it. This baby was VBAC.

Congratulations on the VBAC!

I had lochia for about 5 weeks pp, then also some occasional bleeding from an episiotomy site until 7 weeks.

But, in compensation, I still haven't had my period and I'm 13 months post-partum!

I bled for 8 weeks as well! I kept calling my midwife to make sure it was still okay that I was bleeding and it was. She said if it all of a sudden got alot heavier to call her.

Congrats on your babe!

Having a c/sec probably does result in less lochia. My friend who has had 3 c/b's says that they suction out a lot of the excess fluids and stuff during the proceedure. I guess that would mean less lochia.

I didnt stop untill 6 weeks after having David

Kayden I stopped pretty early..like 2 1/2 weeks.. but after having her i lost alot of blood & had to be given pitocin to stop..

I had lochia for 9 weeks. I wasn't overly active or anything. I only passed small clots. My OB didn't seem overly concerned with it. By 6 weeks it was lighter but still required pad changing ever few hours.
