What could this be - fever, clingy no other symptoms?

Since Tuesday DS has been whiny and throwing tantrums a lot, like over a spoon that fell out of his hand. He has very low appetite too, but eats a little and drinks water and milk just fine. Today he took an extra long nap and woke up with a low grade fever (100.3). It hasn't changed so far, and he's in bed now. We played in his sandbox outside and he ate a yobaby, hated his bath (usually loves it) and went to bed...
I can't figure this out - no cough, runny nose, but he whines and seems to be in pain or uncomfy. He can't tell me yet what hurts! It's driving me bonkers... Any ideas?

Oh, it could be anything. Some virus, probably. DS1 had roseola - high fever and tired with NO other symptoms until he puked on day 5, then he was fine.

It could also be teething. I know the party line these days is that teething doesn't cause fevers, but I don't buy it at all, now that DS1 has all his teeth.

I agree it could be anything. Likely a virus, or maybe teething. There's also the possibility of a UTI - is he having any discomfort when peeing?

If it were my kiddo I'd just keep an eye on the situation, give lots of cuddles and comforting, and try to keep up good nutrition (including some extra vit c, vit d and maybe elderberry and/or probiotics... whatever you usually give for immune boosting). Also try to make sure he gets a nap and gets to bed at a good time.

If your gut starts to tell you that something is wrong then listen to it and put a call in to your HCP.

Thanks... He is fine today... Still a little grabby and not eating much, but better.
I have no idea what went on and I really don't like that he can't tell me!
