Green poop??

DD is 3 weeks tomorrow. Most of her poops in her life have been green. I don't remember this color from DS. She is breastfed, and is gaining weight. she was born at 8 lbs. 3 oz, and at her appointment yesterday she weighed 9 lbs. 1 oz. Do I have anything to be concerned about?

Do you have a big supply? An imbalance of hindmilk over foremilk can make for green poops. Are you block feeding?

No, I don't seem to have a large supply. When I pump, I get about 2-3 oz.

My DS has had green poops for about a month now (with one yellow one) and for him it is my supply issue and his tongue tie, he gulps down the foremilf from the milk ejection and then can't get anything once the fast flow of the letdown is finished. He is also gaining well from 8lbs to 13 in 8 weeks and we are having his tongue tie assessed next week.

Pumps aren't always a good indicator of supply. I've known a lot of women who can't pump much at all but who have pretty good supplies! I would try block feeding anyway to see if the poop color changes.

ETA: I found this link off of kellymom.com (AWESOME site for breast feeding mamas), it might be helpful! http://www.mother-2-mother.com/cc-baby-A.htm

I would say try breast compression (and making sure the baby's latch is excellent) first before block feeding in order to increase the fat content of your milk -- see http://www.drjacknewman.com/help/Breast-compression.asp

(Also you could just try making sure your baby is really finishing the first breast before switching to the other, or not switching at a feeding as long as you think your baby is really full from one side). But if your supply drops from block feeding then you will have to build it back up. Listen to your instincts, watch your baby for clues.
