How have you educated yourself on natural health?

The other thread about what everyone has in their medicine cabinet got me thinking. I am extremely interested in natural health, and I've considered going to school to be formally educated. I know many people are self-educated which I think is great, it's just that I feel like alot of my knowledge is disjointed and I'm still not certain about what to use half the time plus my confidence is not where I'd like it to be.

So, I'm curious! How many of you are formally educated in some modality of natural health? Or if you are self-taught, what resources have you used (ie. internet sites, books, etc.) and find most helpful?

I'm with you...

A little while back I started looking into becoming a Naturopathic Doctor, but since I'd have to go back and take a lot of science pre-reqs it'd take at least 7 yrs to complete the program which was a bit too daunting. Not to mention uprooting my family to move to a different province which just isn't going to happen. However, I did come across a distance learning college at which you can take a variety of courses and programs which seemed very interesting. This is the one I was interested in (and just so happens to be based in my city which means I could attend the occasional "live" workshops they provide), but I'm sure there are others out there.

I"m a chiropractor. So, we get a great deal of natural health education in the 4 years of grad school. However, I wish it was a lot more. There are still a lot of things I need to brush up on and look into more especially in the herb department

Pianojazzgirl...I have been reading the Naturopaths are getting a lot more respect and privaledges in BC, Canada. Maybe, it will spread your way too!

OMG, I'm so glad you posted this! The school I was considering was Clayton College of Natural Health. When I linked to your school's website, it told me that Clayton has closed down!! Wow, maybe I'll be checking out your school!
