Oops. I didn't think about that.

So E and I have been merrily ECing along, having really good weeks and some not so good. Lately, she has been doing something different. She has been taking herself to the potty occasionally without telling me or me noticing. Two things:

1 - She takes herself to the potty.

2 - I haven't taught her how to take her pants off.

Naturally the pee or poop is still in her pants, requiring a change. She understands pulling up the pants (though she can't do it yet), so how do I help her learn how to pull them down to go potty?

I'm not sure how to teach a toddler to pull her pants down since I'm not there yet (my dd is 1 year behind yours), but how about getting her a pair of the split-crotch pants most of the EC stores sell? That way, she can squat and do her business successfully w/o mommy intervention until she gains the finger dexterity needed to work on getting tricky pants down. Or maybe loose/stretchy sweat pants she can easily push down? Or maybe sew velcro strips over buttons/snaps and zippers?

Could she wear dresses in the short term?

How about bottomless at home?

1. :roftlmao !!!

2. Show her how and practice! Show her how to hook her thumbs inside the waist of her pants and push them down. It's easier to pull them down than to pull up, at least for my DD it is. But yes, dresses are awesome too--although they frequently fall down into the toilet in the back and have to be changed too unless you teach the child to hold them up. Which is harder than pants, IMO.

But I would definitely do nakey-bum at home, too! Much easier!

She actually is wearing a lot of dresses right now (being summer and all) but I've never thought to take off her undies at home. I know but I've got other things going on up there, ok?!

I will try to work with her on the pull down business but in the meantime, I will see if she responds well to naked bum time.

I'm just so excited that she's connecting it all. She even tries to clean up her pee misses from the floor! She's just wonderful!!
