HELP - Infected bug bite

Help... We noticed that DS has a large, hard, warm, red raised area on his leg. He had a similar infection two weeks ago and it was terrible(in a different location). He ended up needing antibiotics. Even with antibiotics(his first ever) he had a temp of 103 and was terribly ill. We would like to avoid antibiotics again but we are unsure what is causing the problem. He was in the back yard for 4 hours yesterday playing so it could be anything. He does seem to have a large reaction to normal mosquito bites but this is beyond that. He says it doesn't really hurt which he said last time before he really got sick. We have some of his antibiotic left (Dr wrote for 7 days and stated that we could give for five).

Should we:
1. give antibiotic now and call tomorrow for a script/appointment,
2. draw a circle around the redness, push fluids, and watch,
3. call on call doc
4. go to urgent care clinic
5. your suggestion

Thanks for your help.

Ok, here's what I would do...

a) draw a circle around it and keep an eye on it, as well as on his temp/general well-being, and call your HCP tomorrow or head to urgent care as seems needed by how it progresses.

b) in the meantime apply heat to draw blood to the area which will aid in healing. You can also apply TTO diluted in coconut oil (or another carrier oil) to fight infection.

c) give extra vit C and vit D and probiotics to help boost your ds's immune system.

d) something to think about: since it seems to have flared up quickly this seems (to me and I'm no expert!) that this is more of an allergic reaction/extreme sensitivity to a bite than an infection. Maybe consider giving Benedryl if you are comfortable with that to see if it helps. (Maybe ask your nurse helpline or pharmacist for their opinion on this one).

I'd try some lavender essential oil and/or coconut oil. Both are antifungal and kill MRSA and staph, the most common skin infections.

Whole food probiotic consumption helps the immune system, as does zinc and magnesium, folate and vit C.
