weight of filled birth pool

We were planning on putting our La Bassine pool in our bedroom, on the 2nd floor of our 3 year old, two storey house. My husband the engineer and my dad the contractor got to talking and now they're worried the floor won't support that kind of weight, especially that kind of weight concentrated in a relatively small area.

Is this a legitimate concern? My husband is going to go consult the building code for Ontario and decide if it will work. I guess it's going in the basement if it won't (ugh), but I don't exactly want to fall through the floor either.

Anyone encountered this before and/or done the math and/or had a bad experience with the weight of the pool?

I know very little about construction, so my first question would be "What's the combined weight of tub, plumbing and water in a second floor bathroom?" Are those built with extra support?
The air and plastic of a birthing tub have GOT to be lighter than a permanent tub structure. Obviously the water weight will be greater, but still!

My biggest concern would be leaking, as my own husband works in water damage, lol.

i have been assured by several people that a newer house can handle it..(we also wanted to put a tub on the 2nd floor) however, i don't trust it because it is a LOT of weight.. and i'm not going to have a tub at all.. (that is one of the factors in that decision) i would be interested also to know if built in tubs are reinforced.. hmm!

I was concerned about this too since we live on the 3rd floor of our apartment building (it was built in '06 I believe). My midwife assured me that she has never seen that happen. Also, I just searched it and I found this on waterbirth.org-

"Is there any danger of the pool falling through my floor?
'In over 6,000 pool rentals, we have never had a pool fall through the floor. The weight of the pool is equivalent to 4 large adults sitting around a table. Water weighs 8.2 pounds per gallon, so once filled, the pool weights approximately 840 pounds.'"

We'll still be setting up our pool

I often say that it's like 4 linebackers hugging.

Something like an aquarium or waterbed that is going to put stress on the joists for a long time is more of a concern. The floor can take the short-term stress of the pool.
