For dairy, I'd try either homemade kefir or 24 hour yogurt. My son tolerated raw goat's milk kefir when he couldn't handle any other dairy.
mamafish9 (we are both mama nines! ) I am still working on it. I am going to bring in that coconut milk soon, I adore it and crave it, and it will make me feel less depressed about all of the stuff I'm missing out on right now. But all I need to think is 'Neocate' and I remember how worth it it all is. Also, It's great to see him getting better.

We had a TERRIBLE relapse though. I don't know what it was because I hadn't had the book yet, it arrived yesterday, so I was eating too many advanced foods like avocado, almonds, raw veggies and fruits like plums, blueberries, etc, just after the sweet potato flare up. I then learned that I was doing the wrong thing, so snapped right back onto just chicken broth, chicken meat from the broth, cooked carrots (4 hours) from the broth and very dilute grape juice with water. He seemed okay until I tried cooked pear that I pureed. He got the worst rash ever and was screaming, miserable, gassy, couldn't sleep properly...ugh! It was so bad. I removed the pear and the grape juice as I don't know which one it was. It could be the big helping of almonds I had, one of the advanced foods, or just lots of die-off, I just don't know. Anyway, I will go back to pear some other time. I never noticed anything severe like that with pear in the past. Maybe it's that much clearer on this intro diet (moving on to stage 1 slowly).

I tried butternut squash from stage 1 and he is fine so far but it's the first day. I also had beef. I know they say to leave a few days between each new food but I almost fainted with exhaustion today and was feeling like dying! I do feel much better now, and I made myself the electrolyte drink too. I have swapped the diluted grape juice to diluted apple juice too as I now have a sore throat and need vitamin c and something sweet for my brain!

He's still a little agitated but it's all from the bad reaction he had yesterday I believe. xxxx

Thanks for your advice Jane! Also, I totally realised the same thing the other day but thought I may be bonkers for thinking it. I saw that DS is reflecting my own health state and that the same thing applies through pregnancy - that loving and caring for your baby comes a lot through loving and caring for yourself, at least this is what I have observed for my own experience since pregnancy. xxxx

Things are not going great. I went to see the kenesiologist. It was a long session. I turned out to have a thyroid issue. I have leaky gut. DS has very bad leaky gut. I can tolerate Italian wheat but not UK wheat which has much higher gluten. I can't tolerate pesticides. I'm good with dairy but not with egg but we only had raw egg to test with and we will retest on my next session. DS doesn't react to anything that we tested, once I added the supplements to help the leaky gut. On their own he doesn't tolerate foods well. In other words, most of his intolerances are due to digestive issues and not allergies (well, at least the foods we tested). We both tested positive for protozoa. He said it was due to the low stomach acids not killing them off like they do in most people.

To be blunt, I felt like I was dying on the SCD. I almost fainted a few times and my heart was racing like I was about to have a heart attack. I really can't do it AND take care of my DS, I can't take care of myself on it. And whilst I was on the intro DS was reacting to legal foods and left me with nothing beyond carrots and chicken and I was starting to gag at the look of those foods.

The kenesiologist advised me to eat more, eat some Italian wheat, a little cheese and butter, some rice... I did and DS got so bad. I mean, he was getting bad BEFORE I introduced those foods again (and only small quantities). He has been on the decline since Tuesday, I started reintroducing foods on Wednesday night. DS had one bowel movement that was so putrid and rancid. It was not like any poop I had ever seen or smelt. It was clay like and thick. It smelled of dead batteries! Then today, it was mucousy, very runny and with a little blood. I've never seen blood before and his stools have always tested negative for blood.

I'm at my wits end now and I just want to cry and cry. The kenesiologist tested Neocate on him and it tested weak! He told me that it would just weaken him and do him no good whatsoever and my bm actually tested strong on him so he said that for sure, my milk is not the problem, his leaky gut is the problem.

We'll start on probiotics soon but he would like us to heal the gut to a certain extent first, so we are on supps that contain L-Glutamine, Quercetin, Rutin, Vit E, Vit C, Zinc, there are many ingredients, can't list them all as DS has just woken up in the sling and is hungry...brb! xxx

I hesitate to mention this b/c you are having such a hard time but considering what you are eating I have to...

the SCD did not work for us b/c it is high in the food chemical salicylates. Avocados, grape juice, almonds, honey.... all SCD foods... those are extremely high in salicylates.

I think the "Italian" wheat argument with "low" gluten is all wet. Gluten is gluten. If you are intolerant it makes no difference if you eat a lot or a little.

What will you do for thyroid issue? That certainly could be a root cause? How was it revealed, blood tests or kinesiologist?

Thanks so much Jane, I will go through that link today. It does seem that I lean towards eating lots of those foods.

The kinesiologist diagnosed the thyroid issue and said we will get on it once we've progressed with the leaky gut somewhat (probably next session). I have no idea how they thyroid issue can be related to this issue as I don't know much about the thyroid and will need to research but any light you can shed on that would be so appreciated.

BTW, since the birth, I have always had an illogical but intuitive hunch that DS is affected by my hormones, because he would get reactions when I felt crampy in my ovaries, etc.

Thanks again Jane xxx

ok, pls excuse my one-handed typing, which i'm rubbish at

so since the 2 poo-blood episodes i've been really down as i feel things may have gotten worse. i think it's because i added those foods which i eliminated. it could have been any of them. i've been living on meat and veg with some fruits and i can't physically deal with it.

i can't do the SCD, just as Jane mentioned, it's high in sali foods, and my body seems to makes less milk when i cut out grains as well (i can't do dairy or eggs, nuts either right now). soooo... my thoughts are these...perhaps i should try to bring in a little more starchy/carbs, such as a little rice, potato even. this time i will go slowly and add things every 4 days. i know that gluten is not an option right now, in any amount. i tried fish a day before the bleeding so i won't go there just yet.

i may also try coconut milk. i just need to go slowly and try and keep my head above the water because if i don't make enough milk then it defeats the object of trying to keep on bf with issues iykwim.

love to all and your thoughts are much appreciated xxxxx
