How many of u are Pre-Med students?

Just wondering...I'm currently studying dietetics but am contemplating whether or not I would like to pursue pre-med for pediatrics or midwife. What is the whole process? I know there is a lot of schooling but I have time on my side. How do u do it with children? Is it possible? What is it like once you have your entire degree as far as finding a job? I would just love to hear about your entire experience and any tips you are willing to share. Thanks!

Not pre-med, but a practicing physician. Have you looked at mommd website? It might be helpful to you as the target audience is moms in medicine. There are a few physicians milling around these forums but I think we stay a bit closeted due to the general anti-"medical establishment" sentiment shared by many moms here. Hope you find some pre-meds to connect with.

Predental here! I'm about to begin my second-ish year. I love school, but here I am cranking the book work at 10:30 pm and I have to be in lab at 8 tomorrow morning. I have four kids, ages 6-12. I'm really glad I waited until they were a little older. By the time I'm in Dental School, everyone will be pretty independent.

As far as getting a job- medical degrees are hard to get- not everyone can handle the science and math, or have the discipline to put in the hours necessary to be competitive. If you can do it, you'll find work.

I believe getting an MD is similar to DDS- You get a bachelors, take the MCAT, and start applying to medical schools. There is a message board you might want to poke around on- studentdoctor.net to get an idea of the issues premed and med students are facing.

Good luck!
