I'm curious about what kind of supplements my MDC mama friends take during pregnancy, and I have a question about fish oil and vitamin c.

Currently I take:
Prenatal vitamin, choline (for brain development), vitamin c , cod liver oil for EFA's (nordic naturals), probiotics, calcium/magnesium (because I don't eat dairy). What do you take and why???
Also, a couple of questions!
1. Is there any problem with taking EPA and DHA during pregnancy? Does the ratio matter??
2. How much vitamin C in supplement form is safe to take on a daily basis??
I've researched a lot, but I keep finding conflicting information. This is such a well educated forum, I think I can learn so much from you!
thanks!

mine are switching daily because I still have stomach upset, so I have to stop when I feel sick

I take:
cal/mag/vit D supplement
1/2 prenatal
probiotics

Planning on taking when my stomach can handle it:
Nordic naturals DHA
the other half of my prenatal

I am still on zofran too

I try to take Rainbow Light prenatals because they have everything recommended by my midwife and more, but I can't swallow the stupid things.

Also:
fish oil
alfalfa or chlorophyll
probiotics
iron supplements, when I can't take prenatals, because I'm prone to anemia during pregnancy

I don't know the answer to your first question. My MW recommends 1000mg of Vitamin C per day.

I take 2 prenatals, 2 red raspberry leaf caps. a dose of liquid b12 2 times a day and a crapload of brewers yeast everyday.

I had gastric bypass surgery and most of what I eat comes out undigested - so I really have to load up on the vits/supps to get any good out of them. It's expensive and annoying.

I had the same issue -- even the smaller version still made me gag. It was pointless to have them because I never took them!

I switched to New Chapter Prenatals a few months ago and they are SO much better! They aren't at ALL difficult to swallow. Highly recommended.

I take a prenatal and calmag every day, and I really want to start taking a high quality CLA once I've got some extra money.

I take a food based prenatal, cal/mag, fish oil capsules, and sometimes zinc if I feel my body getting off balance, but only a half a tablet.

Vitamin C is really easy to get this time of year (are you in the northern hemisphere where vegetables and fruit are ripe and fresh right now?). Be careful about what kind you take, if you do chewables, brush your teeth after or rinse well with water, because it can eat away at your enamel.

Thank you so much for that recommendation, I've been really frustrated with my inability to take prenatals and I'm trying to be healthy. I'll look for those.
