Serger question

I'm going to use a friend's serger sometime in the next couple weeks. I want to make some soaker pads for diapers, mama cloth, and maybe a few bibs. Do I just put the layers together and serge? I'm not too concerned about sizing and probably won't use a pattern, except maybe for the bibs. I used a serger once, in high school, and I feel like it was really easy, but I could be remembering wrong. Oh and the friend only used her serger once, a long time ago - so she's not too familiar with it either.

Yep, that's all you should need to do. I serge all of my soaker pads. Just make sure all of the layers make it in the seam. I sometimes have issues catching all the layers around corners or curves.
