How did you approach GodParents?

Hi everyone, we are 34months pregnant and have decided who we would like to serve as Godparents. This role is REALLY important to us and we were just looking for ideas of a way to approach these special people and create a nice memory. What did you do? Any ideas?

Have you seen those little "will you be my Godparent" cards?

Here are some

You could make one yourself in MS Publisher or whatever you have, you don't have to spend money on it if things are tight. If you got an ultrasound you could put one of your u/s pictures on the front.

We have never done anything particularly memorable when we asked people to be Godparents, but there is one that ended up being very memorable anyway. We were at an office Christmas party back when DH and his brother worked together. DH, me, BIL, and BIL's wife left the crowd and found a quiet place to sit, drink wine (except me ) and chat for a while. When the conversation came to a lull, DH brought up the Godparent thing. I don't remember exactly what he said but it was along the lines of "Amanda and I agree that you would both be a wonderful positive influence in our baby's life, and we're hoping that you would do us the honor of being the Godparents." They were so excited (and slightly intoxicated) that they jumped up, gave each other a high five, and started dancing around. (Okay, REALLY intoxicated, but it was fun)

You could have them over for dinner and ask them there, give them a little gift basket with a card that invites them to be Godparents, etc. Some people send an invitation from the baby.

That's such a sweet story! I have never heard of these cards and these are so cute and such a great idea. This will be perfect for who we have in mind. Thanks so much for the tip!
