name help?

Ok so I'm going to break a cardinal rule and share my last name...I mean how many O'Brien's can there be in the US?

So Dh and I have girl names No problem (we like to pick two so we can have some choice is the baby doesn't look like a whatever)

So Boy names we finally picked

Samuel
Benjamin

Problem is the middle names, both of us like Lewis, BUT then the kids initials would be SLO, or SLOB and BLO and BLOB.

So you see the problem, I say OB because Dh's siblings have used them as initials before.

I'm really big into names having strong meanings, so I don't like names like Taylor (which is a nice name) which literally means Taylor. Mostly because I hate the meanings behind my names (literally snare, you know like an animal trap!)

So I figure you brilliant ladies may have some ideas so please please share!!!!

How about something with a vowel, other than Y (that way you avoid BYOB)
Like, for example, Ian. Well, I guess Owen wouldn't work because then you have BOOB.
Whatever, you'll figure something out. You could even repeat the initial of the first name, then it wouldn't really spell anything at all.

LOL I feel your pain! One of our favorite names would've ended up with the initials HAG so we nixed it.

Michael would give you non-word initials. Or William? Samuel makes it tough because so many letters combine with S! Hmm, how about Ellis. It doesn't make a word with either and it kinda sounds like Lewis.

Alexander - defender of men

to me, it sounds good with both names. Plus, SAO SAOB, BAO BAOB not bad.

and at that... SAO means saint.

I had to respond because my maiden name initials were SLOB or SOB without the middle initial. I was only teased once, in junior high, by a girl that was otherwise very friendly. For some reason she thought it was hilarious that my initials were SOB. Otherwise, I can't remember a single comment about them. It never bothered me, personally. My parents never mentioned it, either. I don't think it ever occurred to them.

thanks!! Well, I love William, so much i used it as DS's middle name!
and we do love Alexander, but Dh wants to use it for a girl, as Alessandra.

We do like Ian, but paired with the last name sounds funny, cause they are kinda the same. Ian o'brIEN

I'm glad to hear that aloneinid...We'll keep that in mind incase we can't agree on anything else.

Please keep em coming I know we have time, buts its driving me nuts...you know when you get fixated

What about Jacob?

Samuel Jacob O'Brien = SJO, SJOB

Benjamin Jacob O'Brien = BJOB... BJO... hm.
