Is this thrush? How do I know?

Hope it's ok to post this here, rather than in Challenges.

Anyway, since yesterday, my nipples have been a little puffy, slightly itchy and irritated. Nursing doesn't hurt at all and I haven't noticed any white patches in baby's mouth. My nipples are just irritated.

Is this thrush and how can I find out? What should I do? I have my PP check up next Monday, it is ok to wait, or should I call now?

It sounds like the very beginning of thrush.
To be on the safe side, let your nipples air out and blot them with a mixture of 1tbsp vinegar mixed with water after every feeding.
Try to get a little sunlight on them. Dont stop doing this until they look and feel completely normal.
I wish I knew this a month ago when I had it.
It started just like this and I thought they were just irritated and 2 days later the pain was insane! They swelled up so much and turned purple and were bleeding. the infection spread to the milk ducts and let down felt worse than contractions. Each feeding made me cry because I thought I wouldnt be able to breastfeed this baby.
It was so so so horrible I couldnt believe it.
My baby had no symptoms -just one little tiny white dot that I could barely find.
Im telling you the details so you can prevent it (not to scare you). Even if you have to call in sick (if you work) you really have to let those nipples get air and sun.
Take care and good luck

Well I tried the vinegar remedy and it did feel soothing. Overall, things seem better today. Perhaps it was just irritated skin or perhaps I was able to nip it in the bud.

I would keep up with the vinegar for a couple of days, just to be sure. If you want to be extra sure, wipe all over and under your breasts and arms with the vinegar, and air dry. The yeasties can live all over!
