Could a tooth be throwing things off?

The last few days we've been WAY off--lots of misses. Even a poop miss yesterday (but that was on DH's watch, so debatable whether a true miss or hubby not paying attention! )

Last evening, we felt the first little sharp edge of a tooth cutting through!

I know developmental milestones like sitting, crawling, etc. can cause a disruption in things, but has it been your experience that teething does also?

(I would look this up in my Infant Potty book, but I lent it to a friend, so I thought I'd ask you all.)

And how.

In fact, even if the teething itself is fine, there would be changes in pottying. A few teeth came in and we were like "oh, that's why it's been puddle central."

So teething could explain why DD seems to have been peeing non-stop lately, and I can't totally escape this rash? (Doctor saw it and said it looks like it's heat/moisture related.) She's got lots of other signs (ear pulling, drooling, fists can't get in her mouth enough).

Yeah, I'd get her some teething things. A great big carrot is great cause it's cold from the fridge and the little ones can't get anything off it, but it has some give.

She does have a bunch of teething toys, although her hand still seems to be her first choice. A carrot, really? Hmm. I guess she'd just be gumming it, and while my first thought is to choking (really big carrot, I guess?), it would probably end up on the floor more than anything right now!

Thank you all--you've reassured me that we're not the worst EC'ers ever!

Things have been much better this week. Should I expect teething to have this affect for each tooth (ugh!), or is it the worst the first few times when it is new? I'm sure each baby is different, but those of you who have btdt, I'd love to hear your experience with this.

On the bright side--the next time I feel we couldn't catch a pee if we stood her in the bathtub all day, I'll know to expect those sharp little edges!

i feel like the worst ECer ever too.. we're on our 2nd round. first DD is now 3 1/2 and this DD is almost 9 months. she seems content just to sit in her own poo. What?!? this kiD?!? *sigh* she's been teething something awful and is working very hard on cruising and walking.. so hopefully this is just a bunch of things all at once that she's not concentrating on eliminating.. Surely hind sight will make this make sense.

But I know it's a phase and it will pass... Soon I hope!
